Listed together in the 1900 census, living in Amite county, MS along with son, Dennis, age 2. In the 1910 census, Mary is listed by herself, but as married, living in Lincoln county, MS with her mother and stepfather (whose name incidentally was also William Sullivan... I haven't figured that out yet!) with the following children: Dennis Sullivan 12 Julia A Sullivan 10 Bonnie M Sullivan 8 Linsie Sullivan 4 Ruby Sullivan 2 (Ruby is listed as 21, but it is a mistranscription. In the 1920 census, Mary is remarried to a Thomas Rushing, living in Plant City, Florida. Thomas was also born in MS, so I suspect that that's where they were married. MY QUESTION: I haven't been able to figure out Mary J's maiden name. Not sure if anyone has easy access to marriage records from 1897 or newspapers or something, but if anyone can give any help, I would love it! Also, it seems weird that her mother married a Sullivan. I'm wondering if there's any relation to the Sullivan that her daughter married? Also wondering what Nica's maiden name was, but I suspect that finding Mary J's will lead to that! In my records, I have Bythell with three wives, to wit: MARY BALDWIN (m. bef. 1800), AMANDA MALVINA F. GERALD (m. 1 Nov 1831), and ELIZABETH BOATNER (m. 17 Oct 1839). I currently have no children whatsoever for the 2nd and 3rd wives. But, I do have a JOHN HAYNES in the large family of the 1st wife. Also, now questionable is the death date that I have for Bythell, being "1833 in Wilkinson County MS." This, of course, conflicts with the his marriage date to his 3rd wife. Do you have more complete names, dates, and places for the families of the 2nd and 3rd marriages? And, also more accurate birth and death dates and places for Bythell? My grandmother, Myrtis Brown, appears on the 1900 US Census as "Martha M Brown", age 8, living in Beat 4, Pike County, MS, with her father (Joseph Jackson Brown, age 49), her mother (Sarah F Erwin Brown, age 41) and several brothers and sisters. Myrtis Brown appears on the 1910 US Census as "Myrtis Brown", living in Beat 4, Amite County , MS, with her father (Jack Brown, age 58), her mother (Sarah Brown, age 48) and 3 siblings. I found a listing on the Pike County online Circuit Clerk Marriage License Index of a record (File #0037646) of a marriage license issued to John R Thomas and Myrtis Brown for a 3/27/1912 marriage. Their first son, my father, (James W Thomas) was born in 1912. My father never knew his dad, John R Thomas. His parent's marriage dissolved soon after my father was born and Myrtis discouraged my father from ever meeting his dad. My father died at age 95 in 2007, and ! he expressed regret in his last years for never meeting his father. Myrtis died in 1929 in Louisiana,at age 36. My father was 16 when she died. Myrtis Brown Thomas, and both her parents are buried in Johnson Chapel Cemetery near Summit. I have visited their gravesites several times, and helped my father erect a headstone for his mother in 2006. The only written record I have been able to find for the existence of John R Thomas is the aforementioned marriage license file. Thanks again for your suggestions. The first is the McComb Railroad Museum, whose website is www.mcrrmuseum.com, and the other is the Illinois Central Historical Society, whose website is www.icrrhistorical.org. I am familiar with the name Seaborn Riley but do not know much about him. My grandfather was Thomas Wesley Brown, son of Reuben Brown. The Brown's lived on a small farm in an area near the Crosby saw mill. My quest was to locate the site of Reuben Brown's home (about 1970). My grandfather, Wesley, was elderly and said that if Seaborn was alive he would know where the home and Brown's field was located. Unfortunately, Seaborn was dead or no longer lived in Crosby when this discussion occurred. Fortunately, with Google Maps I think that I may have found the approximate site of Reuben's home. Did Seaborn move to California or some other Western state before he died? It seems that he was the one my grandfather believed to have gone there to live with some family member. He just wasn't certain that it was California. Do you know where Seaborn lived? I don't know the exact site of his house but know the general area where it was located. By the way this part of Crosby is in Wilkinson County instead of Amite. I wish I had lots of info for you but, unfortunately, I don't. There may still be some older people in the Crosby area who have heard of him or a descendant. I would love to hear from you and find out more about him. This would fill in information about my ancestors and people who lived near them. My email address is: [email protected]

Need information on Eliza Jane Cotten, daughter of Thomas Marshall Cotton and Lucreita Robertson, born around 1820. She first marred Andrew Gray Westbrook 26 December 1841 in Franklin County, MS. They had a son, Samuel Westbrook born in 1845. Mr. Westbrook died and she married a man by the name of Goodson and had a daughter, Elmira, born in 1847. No record of this marriage or death. She married Bluitt McGehee March 6, 1850 in Union County, AR and family is found in 1850 census of Amite County, MS. I think Eliza Jane died sometime after 1860 since Bluitt is in 1870 census with a new wife. We would like to find date of death and place of burial for Eliza Jane. She would be my gg-grandmother. Thanks in advance for any help. Barbara
