Author: ggLongmire Surnames: Newman, Tate, Lindsey Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.mississippi.counties.amite/230.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am connected to these LINDSEY and NEWMAN lines to a great extent, and also have a great deal of information on Amite County MS and its history and citizens. I come by the LINDSEY and NEWMAN connection by virtue of MARY TATE (abt 1800 in SC - aft 1861, a sibling of my TATE ancestor. MARY TATE had ISAAC LINDSEY (m. 9 Jul 1816) as her first husband, and her second husband was NEHEMIAH NEWMAN (connection to me as yet unknown). Isaac and Mary, as we know, had five children, one of whom is the noted WILLIAM T ("Buck") LINDSEY; another child was the noted LUCINDA LINDSEY, who married SAMUEL NEWMAN (connection to me as yet unknown). Despite the above two NEWMANs having no connection yet to me, the NEWMAN family of Amite County is also one of my ancestral lines, with its earliest (known to me) progenitor being SAMUEL NEWMAN (1817-1871). I'd sure like to connect the NEHEMIAH NEWMAN and the "unknown to me" SAMUEL NEWMAN to my NEWMAN line in Amite County. In the meantime, I'd al! so be pleased to share whatever I have about any of the above. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
