Great to have your knowledge of justice system. I have been reading about the convict leasing system and in particular Parchman Farm, which I would assume is the place Asberry would have been held. I contacted the circuit courts and they directed me to the archives who said that their records didn't go back that far. So, now I'm going to try to find newspaper articles about it. Its interesting that i can't find a record of death for Asberry, which makes me wonder if it was a middle name... hmm. just thinking out loud :) I think that Sidney may have been married twice before marrying my grandmother. I found him on a 1930 NY census married to Lillian and living with Elizabeth Brown (who was my grandmother).
