Spiva 1921-2010 September 2, 2010 WARREN, Ohio - Willie H. Spiva, 89, of 435 Seventh St. S.W., departed this life at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born April 18, 1921, in Louisville, Mississippi,(Winston County) the son of Gus and Jennie Eiland Spiva. Mr. Spiva was employed with Republic Steel for 30 years as a roller before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Church at Warren, USWA, and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and playing cards. He was a private first class in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II, serving in Germany, Italy and New Guinea and receiving numerous honors. He married Canarie Spiva on May 5, 1947. She died April 11, 2002. He leaves to mourn four sons, Willie Hershey Spiva of Warren,Ohio; Kenny Spiva of Atlanta, Michael (Cheryl) Spiva of Smyrna, Ga., and Sheldon (Diane) Spiva of Hermitage, Pa.; three daughters, Eranie (Robert) Carter of Warren, Diretha (Waverly) Franklin of Howland, Ohio and Michelle (Walter) Randolph of Stone Mountain, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Church of Warren, with calling hours beginning one hour prior. Burial will be at Pine Knoll Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 2752 Bazetta Road, the home of his daughter, Eranie and Robert Carter.
