My husband's paternal grandfather was a Davis - I think before 1880 he may have been in Copiah or Simpson Co., then in Lawrence until he died in early 1900's. His name was Anderson Davis - don't know anything about his family (ancestors) unfortunately. What was your gggrandmother's first name? What state are you researching in??????My paternal ggrandfather was name Thomas Davis and he was a carpenter, a slave from Richland County, S.C. He came into Austin County, TEXAS in 1859 according to the 1867 Voters Registration. He was born in 1842 in a small town of Kingville, S.C.
