Daniel C Gillett(e) was my great-grandfather. He was an AME minister in Hernando, Mississippi, at Oliver's Chapel, starting mid-to-late 1884. I don't know how long he was there. He was still there in 1885, but he was back in Clark County, Arkansas by the 1900 census, and died in 1905. I am looking for any records from Mississippi beyond the articles from the AME newspaper, The Christian Recorder; one from 1884 mentioned him briefly and another from 1885 was from an AME Conference, with a longer mention about him. He was part of the Northern Mississippi Conference. Before 1884, he was in Arkansas, in the South Arkansas Conference. Daniel C Gillett was born in Talladega County, Alabama, in 1842, and "raised in Arkansas." He married in Arkansas in 1866. tootncmon
