Mrs. Thompson was born May 26, 1913, in Aberdeen, Mississippi.(Monroe County) Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lillie B. Ward Swanson. She relocated to Youngstown, Ohio from Mississippi in 1938, where she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Thompson was employed at Park Vista Presbyterian Homes of Youngstown for over 12 years. She was also employed at the Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 20 years. Mrs. Thompson united with the Union Baptist Church upon coming to Youngstown. In 1952, she united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful and dedicated member until her death. Mrs. Thompson also in her later years accompanied her daughter and became an honorary member of the Christian Revival and Discipleship Center and its Mother's Board. Mrs. Thompson was also involved in many community organizations such as the Northside Block Watch, The McGuffey Senior Citizens craft and exercise groups, the Northside Garden Club, an advisory member to Freedom Incorporated, a life long member of the NAACP and a mentor and advisor to many youth throughout the city. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, whom she married Oct. 27, 1934; her parents; and she is the last of 16 siblings to be called to be with the Lord. She leaves to mourn her passing, two children, Charlie Jr. (Zandrianna) of Phoenix, Arizona and Dr. Minnie Rosie Taylor (John) of Liberty, Ohio; three grandchildren, Andrelita Hakeem and Amir Hakeem and Tuere McElroy, all of Youngstown, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be held Wednesday at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., at 11 a.m. with the homegoing services to follow at noon. Pastor Michael Harrison, pastor of the Union Baptist Church, will officiate the services and Pastor Kenneth W. Paramore, pastor of the Christian Revival and Discipleship Center, will conduct the eulogy. Mrs. Thompson will be laid to rest at Belmont Park Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the L.E.
