Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mr. Eddie Hudson, 69, who departed this life Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Briarfield Nursing Home. Mr. Hudson, who was known by his friends as "Fast Eddie," was born Aug. 13, 1942, in Greenville, Mississippi (Washington County), a son of Nathan and Annie Mae Akins Hudson, coming to this area in 1948. He attended Penhale Elementary and Campbell Memorial High Schools. He was a chef and had worked at various restaurants in the area. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, other social games and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was an avid chess player and was a former Golden Gloves boxer. His wife, the former Constance Lilly, passed away in 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory, four children, Monya (Jamal) Hudson, Edwina Mackey-Hudson, Melissa Ann Hudson and Ebony (Earnest) Hudson-Williams; a stepson, Vincent Lilly; siblings, Dr. Francis Bliss, Jessie L. Hudson and Donald (Carol) Hudson, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Nathan Hudson Jr., Barbara Buchanan, Diane (Stanley) Poindexter, Pastor Charles Hudson, Stella Ann Hudson, Donna (Frank) Brown, and Rocky D. Hudson and Linda (Lorenzo) Johnson, all of Youngstown, OH and Thomas "Tony" (Thelma) Hudson of Akron, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three children, Anna Mae "Kate" Hudson, Cathy Johnson and Billy Leggette; a brother, Joseph Davis; and grandchildren, Jonathan Leeper and Monya Justice.
