She had a cousin, Moses "Preacher" Wright, 64, who still lived in Leflore County in a wisp of a town called Money, population 55. It was ironic that a place with the name Money could be so poor, but the community was just that. There simply was no industry, no business district and no affluence. "Preacher" Wright was a sharecropper who made his living harvesting cotton on 25 acres. Surnames: Parker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lIB.2ACE/663 Message Board Post: Mack Charles Parker, a resident of Poplarville, Mississippi, was jailed for allegedly raping a white woman. A white mob abducted Mr. Parker from his jail cell, beat him, took him to Louisiana and then shot him. Although Parker's abductors were well known and some admitted their complicity to FBI agents, the judge in the case, Sebe Dale – a white supremacist and member of the White Citizens' Council – encouraged the grand jury to return no indictments against the killers. I am not related to Mack, just passing on this information I found while doing research on Lynchings. I apologize to the family of Mack for posting this message, but this information needs to be shared. The link for the site is listed below. There are two pictures of Mack, one after he was Lynched. All she had is a name that is supposed to be her birth mother. It was not a formal adoption, as most Black adoptions were not during that the early 1920s. The story goes that her birth mother was travelling up around north mississippi, she saw a couple that had known her when she lived around Jackson, MS. - she had a mixed baby with her and eventually gave the baby girl to the couple. When my friend's mother was finally told that she was adopted, she was almost grown. At that time the couple who had raised her gave her the name of Loubella Childs. I searched records and came up with Loudella Childs who was a mulatto living in Adams County. Because of the manner in which Black people traditionally pronounce words, I figured that Loubella and Loudella could possibly be the same person. Thanks again for the tip, I will check around Bradley County Arkansas and see if I ge! t any hits. My friend's mother is now getting up in age, and I wanted to help her find her people before something happens to her.
