Since then I've been trying to fit her in with the rest of the McDonald's but so far all I know for sure is that they all belonged to the same slaveowner. Most of the older McDonald's are listed in his will but they are not divided up into families like other wills I have seen. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: FearnSprings Surnames: Coleman, Reed, Humphreys, Houston, Bragg, Brown, Cotton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.afam.ms/1462/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In 1993 on a visit to Mississippi, my great uncle Luther Bragg took my mother and I to visit his son Sonny's grave at Anderson Cemetery. While we were there we decided to walk around the cemetery to see what other relatives we could find, well while Sonny's and a couple of other relatives were out in the open in some grass, the rest of the graves were in the woods. We didn't stay there long because it was july and the bugs were eating us up. But since then I've had a desire to return one day to find out who else is laid to rest there and also cleanup the cemetery and return it to it's original state. I finally got the chance to return to mississippi this summer and one of the first things on my list was to go to the cemetery and record the names on every headstone I could read. Like another old family cemetery near there, this cemetery also had a few graves that were unmarked and sunk in. Of the headstones that I did find that were readable, I recorded the surnames which inc! luded Coleman, Reed, Humphries, Houston, Bragg, Brown, and Cotton. Sometime this spring or summer I plan on starting a cleanup to restore the cemetery to it's original beauty. I think first off I would like to get as many of the unmarked graves identified as I can and once again I wanted to included any and all descendents of the people that are buried there. If you are interested in helping out or have any information to offer on the history of the cemetery please reply. I will also be updating everyone on the cleanup process. Author: FearnSprings Surnames: Liddell, McDonald, Clay, Stewart, Lovorn, Sanders, Woodruff, Billingsly, Slawson, Nunn, Burrage, Hughes, Triplett, Hollingsworth and Foster Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.afam.ms/1461/mb.ashx Message Board Post: After doing some research, I discovered that some of my family members were laid to rest at Lovorn Cemetery in the southeast part of Winston County once known as Fearn Springs. I was still curious to see who else I could find there so this summer I went to visit the cemetery and upon my arrival I noticed that the cemetery hadn't been taken care of in decades and would need a big makeover to restore it to it's former beauty. As I walked through the woods, I was not able to find the names of some family members that I had on hand, but the reason for this was that most of the graves were unmarked and sunk in. Of the headstones I did find that were readable, I took note of the surnames which include Liddell, McDonald, Clay, Stewart, Lovorn, Slawson Sanders, Foster, Woodruff, Billingsly, Nunn, Triplett, Burrage, Hughes and Hollingsworth. This spring or summer I plan on starting a cleanup of the cemetery and I wanted to include the descendents of the people who are laid to rest th! ere. If you are interested in taking part just give me a reply and I also will be giving updates on the cleanup process. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: coldixchick Surnames: Coleman Hollingsworth Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.ethnic.afam.ms/1458.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, there are some Colemans and some possible Hollingworths in my Ancestry. However, I don't recall any of the counties you mentioned in my research. My great grandfather, John Coleman, and my great grandmother, Frances Hollingworth, got married on December 31, 1873. According to the 1880 census they were living in Crumps, Yazoo, MS. They also lived near a couple named Armstead and Chaney Hollingworth on the same census. I am trying to determine if this is Frances Hollingworth parents or grandparents. This should be interesting because there are not very many black Hollingworths. Also interested in finding out more about John Coleman, too. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
