    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/lIB.2ACE/530 Message Board Post: I was listening to a radio show in NYC and got some ideas. Older Folks are always saying that young people don’t do this or that. I cannot disagree with the fact that these days things are getting out of hand. Since we all can see this, can we try to make some changes. Instead of just stating the problem, it would be great to start to fix it. Some young people just need guidance. Wouldn’t it be great if there were forums, message boards, tv commercials and radio broadcast featuring older adults giving advice to the younger generation. Older folks have lived through certain situations that can be avoided or approached differently if young people were told about it. Now I’m not saying that this will change the world (for all you pessimistic people). I’m saying that it is a start. If you have better ideas please put it out here so that we can have more POSITIVE words being spoken about life, relationships, love, etc. Please give us advice about: --the importance of respecting each other --the importance of knowing your roots --learning how to be a gentleman/ lady --proper conduct at work --not paying bills on time --The consequences of dropping out of school --having children too young --selling drugs (where do you end up?) --hanging on the corner --gambling --not investing --not pursing higher education --using profanity --drinking --smoking --doing other drugs --partying all day/night --neglecting your children --neglecting your responsibles --buying name brand clothes instead of books --eating healthy ---respecting elders --the importance of spirtual grounding --expanding your vocabulary --how to communicate --how to listen --how to grow --what is a REAL MAN/WOMAN --talking to your parents --learning patience --the importance of diction/spelling/grammar --knowing how to write an essay/ a letter --buying vs. renting --etc. I would LOVE for older folks (late 30s and up) to call in on a radio talk show and speak to the younger generation about these issues and more. GUIDE US PLEASE!!!!! Don't just say you kids don't....Please give some advice and options (some people do not realize that there are other options)

    2. Ralph and Becky Poore
    3. While looking at the 1860 slave census for Newton County, Miss., I ran across a listing for Robert Gandy, who owned several slaves. Because my time was short, I didn't copy the entry. But if you would like to look it up it is on handwritten page 7 or stamped page 228. I am Caucasian and Gandy is one of my family lines. But perhaps there is a connection with your line. Ralph Poore 3440 S. Brookshore Place Boise, ID 83706 [email protected] http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/p/o/o/Ralph-E-Poore/ The families my wife and I researching are divided into four surname categories: Poore, Pierce, Johnson, and Fladeland. Those in the Poore category are linked to my father’s family. Those in the Pierce category are linked to my mother’s family. Those in the Johnson family are linked to my wife’s father’s family. Those in the Fladeland family are linked to my wife’ s mother’s family.
