    1. Elliott, Randall (Randle), Winston, Gandy, Outlaw, Vaughan, Askew, and Gant
    2. I am looking for information on any of the following surnames in Oktibbeha Co., MS., specifically the community of Sessums. The surnames are as follows: Elliott, Randall (Randle), Winston, Gandy, Outlaw, Vaughan, Hollingsworth, Askew, Goodwin, Watts and Gant. Family members include George W. Elliott, Willis Elliott, Julia Ann (Randle) Elliott, Ned Elliott, Ned Elliott Jr. Dr. John M. Gandy, Horace Gandy, Charlie Gandy, Sarah Gandy, Samuel Gant, John Foye, James Elliott, Mary Ann Goodwin - to name a few. The family appears on the 1880 and 1870 Census' of Oktibbeha, Co. Again, they lived in the community of Sessums. The family ultimately moved to Indian Territory around 1890. Additionally, Dr. John M. Gandy became the third President of Virginia State University and remained so for about 28 years. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The biggest obstacle is getting information regarding the Elliotts. It is believed they may have been on the plantation of William Winstonjust before Emancipation. In 1871, the plantation was listed as being located in Clay Co., after the county was formed from parts of Lowneds and Oktibbeha counties. Thanks for your help.
