Casper Myers, born in Maryland C. 1768 <--- this is not the immigrator, but rather his grandfather. This Casper MYERS is the son of Christoph(er) MIER/MYERS whom was the son of Johann Casper MAJER, arrived/landed at the ports of Annapolis, Maryland from Switzerland who's line fled the Rhine River area ³reign² of Wurtemberg, Germany. And I have their lineage all the way back to the 1400¹s. Caspar headed straight for the Monocacy River area of Frederick Co., MD in 1734 when the first land deed records begin to show and continue on till the last recorded land record from Christopher MYERS dated 1797 appears. I believe Christopher and his brother Henry, brother Christian and their children (many of same names including Casper) did make their way down into Greene/Washington/Sullivan Counties of TN. And they used the name Christopher, Frederick, Christian and Casper quite frequently, as well as Adam, too. For a brief period, the son Frederick did settled in Stephens City, SW of Winchester in Frederick (Old Madison Co) VA; he didn¹t make the trip down the old pioneer road Route 11 heading for Greene Co, TN with his brothers. A few came back eventually and you can find some of their tombstone/cemetery photos on my website BUT Rootsweb in in trasition now - nothing comes up. Their true surname was spelled Johann's / HANS MAJER in Germany and Switzerland; MAYER on arrival in Annapolis, MD; MIER in Frederick, Maryland; MEYER and MOYER in PA and MOYER MIER MYER MYERS and even MYRES in southern VA, and NE TN records. The above area of Frederick CO., MD where their actual land was located is: 12 miles north of Frederick town, MD heading up old Route 40 til you get to MYERSVILLE, about 12 miles below the Adams Co., PA line. 32 years later, Casper MYERS (the immigrator¹s) 2nd cousin Christian MAJER b 1763 in Switzerland, made his way to the same area. So you can see that the lines get mixed up, though they are from the same common ancestor, ³Johann Melchoir MAJER² of Ulm. Melchoir MAJER² born in Ulm 1495 d 15XX in Stadthauptmann Son ³Lorenz MAJER/MAYER² b 1554 d 1609 Arms Granted in 1570 Son ³Hans or John Georg MAJER/MAYER² m. A.M. JUPFER/KUPFER Son ³Johann Melchoir² b 1636 of Ulm **d 1703 Switzerland Son¹s; 1-Marcus b 1684 d 1740 2- Johann Georg Batholomew b 1681 1 - Marcus, his son: Christian b 1714 d 1788 son of Christian: Johannes b 1741 d 1809 son of Johannes: Christian b 1763 d 1842, he founded the branch of MAYER MYERS that founded the line that stayed in Maryland but left Frederick for Baltimore City, MD where many generations went on to become attorney¹s and legislatures helping to create many of the 1st laws still in use today for Baltimore City. Christian¹s son, Brantz MAYER wrote their genealogy and I have 2 of their original prints. 2 Johann Georg Batholomew, his son Christopher Bartholomew b 1702 d 1752. His line went on to be the founders of all of the generations of MEYER MEYERS MYER MYERS and many MIER(S) and MOYER(S) spelled so many different ways in Adams, Lancaster and Phila. Counties of PA. Children of Johann Georg B.: 1 George Ludwig 2 - Sybilla M. m. a HOUSEAL 3 Dorothea Regina m. a SCHULER 4 - John Jacob ------ This line from Ulm were known as SUEVI or Wanderers, and were parent stock of the Suabians who¹s land is contained in the modern kingdom of Wurtemberg. They were part of the Free Imperial Army² that protected the King of the city and this line was highly decorated, known for their bravery and how they would protect the kingdom fiercely but as kingdoms went under seige from other realms of power, being proud as their were, they left for Switzerland along with many others during the mid to late 1600¹s, never looking back. Which is why this line began their journeys over the Atlantic. They came so early because they were ³upper crust² and had the money and education to get here before others could. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Chrystie MYERS, ROOTSWEB LIST ADMINISTRATOR BROOKOVER - KRABAL - MOYERS LIST NEWSGROUPS MYERS GENEALOGY http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
