Messages I wrote today on theories of Caspar, Christoph, Henry, Barbara, Anna Catharine MIER/MYER/MAYER/MAJER (Christopher had a son Henry, too). This line was part of 1734 arrival in Old Monocacy (Monaquesen) in Frederick Co., Maryland. Line goes back to Gross, Schsenheim, Free Imperial City of Ulm, (one time) Stadthauptmann, Lauingen; fled area into Holland and later Switzerland; stil later made their way to England and to America; reportedly not part of Phila PA arrivals but rather thru Annapolis, Maryland where I live. ---------- Part One ------- Caspar MIER sserved under Captain Stphen RANSBERGER for 42 days / Militia. He seen no action. It is spelled MIRE in old Muster Roll filed in 190 pg manuscript under Captain DELASHMUT'S Roll. ---- More from Johann STOVER'S Records MEYER, Johnan Georg m. Anna Barbara Oct 6, 1734; Sponsors: Anna Barbara TEUFERSBISSIN Johan Caspar MYER shows up (earliest known documentation) under Early German Settlement in Frederick Co., MD by appearance as Number 56. Arrived in 1734. Most all other germans in the area arrived in Phila. PA in 1732 which again leads me to my beliefs that Caspar was Anabaptist or Mennonite but Reformed because he purchased land overseas and once he arrived here he realized he'd better just make it easy for himself and family and reform. Maybe he wasn't a religious man, as most church recordings are his sons and daughters; he and his 1 son Christoph are more so the ones that left most of the financial dealings records. He is the only known MYER MIER MAYER in this regions. The only 1. Now, go back up to the Johnan Georg MAYER I mention in my lineages. I believe that he is (probably) Caspar's brother; or he's Caspar but more then likely his brother. Caspar's land was in walking distance of Govenor Thomas JOHNSON's family, to become the 1st Gov of Maryland. Caspar's name is about the only 1 not on the list of Petitioners Seeking Creatio of Frederick CO. in 1742... Thru Div of Prince George's County. Caspar's name is not on the list from same folks above who also wanted a division from Prince George's County for their own All Saints Parish, 1742. Both in October Caspar is not listed in 1733 Taxables/ nor in 1734 for "No tobacco burnt" petition, but a John MYER shows in 1733 Taxes and a John MIERS 1734 for tobacco issue. Interesting Note: STOVER listed Joh. Georg MEYER/MAYER/MIERS as from Swatara, todays Lebanon County, MD but no one could decipher if he wrote "arrived in Monaquesen" or "arrived in from Conestoga". This is an issue that maybe someone else out here has figured out and I'm just not aware of it. I don't surf a lot. If this Johann Goerg MIERS really did come in from Lebanon, old Berks Co., PA area and he is connected to Caspar then maybe it is Caspar's line from the old settlements (Anabaptist and Reformed) from the old Wolmdorf/Strausburg/Amity Acres area and he is from the MYERSTOWN established in 1750 from Isaac MEIER b 1834 town became legal and up for taxables in 1768. The very 1st known settlers came into that region of Amity Acres, 100 acres donated for the new Reformed settlers under PENN'S guidance by a WEISTER. This could blow the whole theory out. And like I mentioned before, there is a Caspar in that area, same time frame so... I hope poor Brantz MAJER isn't wrong on his lineage. Amity was given by the Indians to these settlers whom came in from Phia. PA from of all places Ulm, Germany because they were so "peaceful". Problem with this theory is that STOVER recorded same days in Monocacy, so he could not have been in Frederick MD and Berks CO PA on the same day. No way. He recorded way too many other births on same day in question. AND there is a John MIER but not a Caspar on said ship records from PA for this flock of immigrants to Monocacy. Caspar m. Anna BRAHAM Son Christoph(er) had a son Henry who m. Margaret RANSBURG. She was the dau of Stephen RANSBURG who d Mar 7, 1789. His will signed in German arranged for manumission of his slaves and provided for disposition of his home plantation "Mortality" as well as a few other miscellaneous parcels of land. His children were: Catharine Elisabetha, m. to John STONER John, m. Anna Maria BRUNNER Jacob m. Elisabeth DEVILBISS Margaret, m. Henry MYER son of Christopher, son of Caspar Elias m. Catharina UNK thought to be Caspar's dau Henry m. Susanna DEVILBISS, later Catharina STICKLE Christian m. Susanna ? Frederick County, MD WILLS GM 2:304 Caspar MIER'S WILL dated December 1, 1771 and by it he bequeathed 1/2 a lot with it's bldgs to his son-in-law Nicholas HISLER. The other 1/2 "where she now lives" went to his wife Barbara. Lot No 114 in Frederick (4th lot west of Market St between 2nd and 3rd street if the location for Caspar's son Henry MYER. He didn't leave to Christopher because he was a fair sized land owner himself thanks to his father Caspar. The old city mill, near where the Carillion now stands in Baker Park was built on "long Acre" by John RANSBURG in a joint venture w/Jacob BENTZ. In 1776 a canal was cut through to Long Acre then the land of Jacob BENTZ, from Philip SINN'S "Loom" to the west. The canal was constructed out of the old mill race just before Caspar arrived on scene. Maybe they were prepping it up for him after overseas purchase. A number of other historic landmarks are located on Long Acres; 1844 deed fro Abraham KEMP, assigned 53 acres of what was once Caspar MIER'S land to William TYLER. That deed mentioned the Old Tyler Brick yard, Eppert's Pailing fence on the south side of Town Creek, an alley (now College Avenue) leading from BENTZTOWN to the reek, the main road leading from Fredericktown to BRUNNER'S Mill (now Dill Ave.) and the old Reformed graveyard now Memorial Park. From my notes I'm typing, and I see that the old Reformed graveyard where Caspar was buried is where they brought in those bodies and stones I mentioned earlier today. Obviously Caspar was buried on his property. He died and I know that his son Christopher either left the area (which is what I think he did with his children and the rest of the entire clan) except the sister that m. HISLER because by 1787 Christoper has sold off all of his land and does not show up ever again. I think he's the elder Christopher with the younger one, the younger Christian and the Henry's and Jacobs that no one can account for in Greene Co. TN 1790 census records. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Chrystie MYERS, ROOTSWEB LIST ADMINISTRATOR BROOKOVER - KRABAL - MOYERS LIST NEWSGROUPS MYERS GENEALOGY http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
