TN Moyers Cousins: It seems the more I find about this line, the more questions I have since little that I find is documented. Goodspeed Publishing Co. and other companies that followed didn't verify the family stories that their agents collected from families for their publications. Information posted on line doesn't seem to be documented. Perhaps someone who'll read this has documentation for the questions below. 1) Does anyone have proof that 1721 Peter Moyers (the immigrant) was ever in Lincoln Co. TN? 2) Has anyone found evidence that 1721 immigrant Peter died in Lincoln Co. TN ca. 1824? 3) If 1721 Peter Moyers rather than 1752 Peter was the Peter Sr. listed in the 1820 Lincoln Co. Census (over 45), where is 1752 Peter? 1752 Peter would be too old at 68 in 1820 to be the Peter Jr. since Peter Jr. was 26 -45 in the 1820. 4) Does anyone have any proof that 1721 Peter Meyer who arrived on the Snow Molly in 1741 and "settled in Springfield Twp. Bucks Co. PA" was the father of 1752 Peter Moyers b. in Berks Co. PA? All I can find is the following: "Based on information from a family in Lincoln Co. TN - SOURCES UNDOCUMENTED - the Moyers of Lincoln Co. (Peter, Henry, Samuel, Jacob ) were descended from Peter Meyers who came from Germany on the Snow Molly..." Many Mayer(s)/Meyer(s)/Moyer(s)/Myer(s)/Mire(s) in PA had sons named Peter. How do we know the one on the Snow Molly was ours? I have a copy of the 1741 Snow Molly list. There were no women listed. There was no William, Jacob or Henry Meyer(s) listed on the Snow Molly. Besides Peter Meyer (age 20), there was a Matteus Meyer listed. 5) What evidence is there that 1721 Peter had one son (Peter) born in 1752 and the rest (Jacob, Samuel, George, and Henry) born between 1785 - 1805 when he was age 64 - 84? Again, who would Peter Jr. be since he is too young (26-45) in 1820 to be 1752 Peter? Here's what I have that is from documented sources: 1752 Peter Moyers was in Lincoln Co. TN arriving prior to the 1820 census (exact year unknown because of the "some 5 years in Berks Co. PA after the Rev." and the "22 or 23 years in Winchester VA.") ABSTRACTS OF REV. WAR PENSIONS FILES - p.2447. Moyers, Peter S1860, PA Line, sol was b in Dec 1752 in Berks Co. PA & he lived there at enl & he lived there some 5 yrs. after the Rev then moved to MD for 6 yrs then moved to Winchester VA for 22 or 23 years then lived in "other places" in VA for 3 years then moved to Lincoln Co. TN where he appl 23 Oct 1832. He was still on the pension roll published in 1835. PETER MOYERS LINCOLN COUNTY PENNYSLVAIA MILITIA $50.00 ANNUAL ALLOWANCE $150.00 AMOUNT RECEIVED MARCH 2, 1833 PENSION STARTED AGE 82 Since 1752 Peter was alive and in Lincoln Co. in 1830, he would be the following Peter Sr. listed in the 1830 Lincoln Co. TN Census: Peter Moyers Sr. age bracket 70 -80 ( b. 1752 as verified in his pension application). Peter Moyers b. 1752 was in Winchester, Frederick Co. VA in 1807 (verified by his pension application). He therefore was not the Peter Moyers who married Elizabeth Conel in Nashville TN about September of 1807. Descendants might look at Peter Moyers Jr. (b. between 1790-1800) age bracket 26 -45 (201110/10010) in the 1820 and 30-40 in the 1830 census. >From Lincoln Co. TN records found by Clarabell: ...on 19 Apr 1833 sold to Peter Moyers of LCT land in Fayetteville Lot No. 9...Moyers made bond...sometime in the year 1835 sd Moyers died intestate leaving one daughter Clotilda Formault, who was 21 years of age & four sons viz. - Isaac Moyers, Joel S. Moyers, JohnC. Moyers & William C. Moyers, who are infants under the age of 21, and have no guardian...all of LCT. Hugh Douglass of LCT at June Term of Court in the year 1836 obtained letters of Administration on sd Moyers..... My Jacob Moyers b. 1804/05 was the brother of Samuel Moyers and Henry Moyers (documented in 1886 letter of P.W. Moyers). Given the choice, I would place my Jacob as the son of 1752 Peter age 53 in 1805 rather than 1721 Peter age 84 in 1805. 1752 Peter has at least been documented in Lincoln Co. TN. and in VA in 1804/05 when and where Jacob was born. According to 1752 Peter's pension appliction, he was also in MD ca.1788 - 1794 when Samuel was born ( 1791 MD -by census and tombstone records). Also, unless someone has some proof I've yet to see, I would at this point (based on the facts I have) suggest that 1752 Peter was the Peter Sr. listed in the 1820 and 1830 Lincoln Co. Censuses and that he had sons born between 1785 - 1805, Peter Jr., Jacob, Henry, Samuel, and George. Gale
