His parents were George Washington Uptain Jr. & Sarah Ann ( Thrasher) He was born Apr. 19, 1823 in Henry County, Georgia. Died either Feb.18,1900 or Feb.18, 1894, in Cullman County, AL. Sarah was born Dec. 12, 1825 in Odenville, St. Clair, County, AL. she died Oct. 29, 1878, in AL. City, Etowah County, AL They were married May 25, 1848 in Marshall County, AL. I have there children as Francis Marion b. Aug. 9, 1847/8 in Aurora, AL & Pernatha Ann Uptain b. May 26, 1850 in Aurora she married Joanna's brother James Albert Lawson.
