Does someone have information to substantiate this? Below are some other Peters on ships with German and Swiss immigrants to Philadelphia at about the same time. There were also a great number of men with the single name Johan or Johann, which according to German naming customs, were not their given (middle) names (only Johannes was). So, any of the ones with only a Johan or Johann (or Hans, etc.) could have been named Peter. Ships to Philadelphia from Sep 1727 - Oct 1749 20 Sep 1738 NANCY - Martin PETER Meyer, Henry Meyer, Christop Meyer, Jacob Meyer, Johann Meyer, Joseph Meyer, Hans Michael Meyer 27 Aug 1739 BETSEY - Johan PETER Meyer 26 Oct 1741 SNOW MOLLY - PETER Meyer 8 Oct 1744 AURORA - Johan PETER Meyer, Matteas Meyer, Matteas Meyer Jr., Nichlas Meyer, Johan Adam Meyer 22 Dec. 1744 MASCLIFFE - PETER Meyer, Johan Jacob Meyer, Michael Meyer Also, according to German naming customs, the first son was named after the father's father, the second after the mother's father and the third after the father. Since 1752 Peter named his first son George, perhaps we should be looking for an immigrant George as 1752 Peter's father.
