His mother was Eleanor __________ according to 1850 NJ Census; father unknown, possibly Sidney Miers Benjamin Miers married SUSANAH HULSHART, at Cheasequake Baptist Church, Middlesex County, NJ on October 31, 1818; Susanah Hulshart was the daughter of Matthew Hulshart and Elizabeth Tice. Susanah was born about 1796; died March 18, 1861 Matawan, NJ. Children of Benjamin Miers and Susan Hulshart (according to Civil War Pension) were: (1) Sidney b. 1854; died young (2) Benjamin b. 1856; died before father's death, July 3, 1888 (3) Gertrude Conover Miers b. January 17, 1853; married George Hobart van Dorn; (4) Benjamin b. 1860; died before July 3, 1888; (5) Harry Miers b. 1862; died before July 3, 1888; (6) Edith M. Miers b. July 11, 1865; married Zalmon Squires Pennock at the Matawan, NJ First Baptist Church June 28, 1882; she died May 9, 1887 (7) William Miers b.
