Rep. 5/21/1946 WILLIAM CAMPBELL MOORE William Campbell Moore, Washington R.D.5, died Monday, May 20, 1946, at 3:35 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Emerson Horn, 420 Henderson Avenue, following an illness of seven weeks. Mr. Moore was born Aug. 16, 1870, in Buffalo Township, a son of William H. and Elizabeth Hagerty Moore. He had worked in the oil fields and on his farm on Washington R. D. 5, and was employed for a year at Hazel Atlas No.2 plant two years ago. He leaves his wife Getrude Clark Moore; the following daughters, Mrs. Ethel Miles, at home; Gladys, wife of W. K. Perkins, of Evanston Ill.; Sara M., wife of Emerson Horn, 420 Henderson avenue; two sisters, Mrs. Emma J. McMannis, of Wooster, O.; Mrs. Dessie H. Crothers, Elgin, Ill.; two brothers, Dr. Robert F. Moore, Wilmington, Del.; Walter B. Moore, Elgin, Ill.; two grandchildren. Father -John T. Moore Mother -Lametta Ruth Moore >From The Wash. Rep. 6/2/1971 WILLIAM R. MOORE William R. Moore, 83, of Claysville R.D.1, died in Washington Hospital at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1971, following a serious illness of 11 days. He was born January 30, 1888, in Beham, a son of John T. and Lametta Ruth Moore, and had lived in the Claysville community all his life. Mr. Moore was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and was a road supervisor for Buffalo Township for the past 36 years, serving six terms. He was a member of the Donegal Hunting Camp and was an avid outdoorsman. On Spetember 28, 1910, he married Anna Margaret Crowe, who died October 5, 1970. Surviving are one son, Robert K. Moore, of Claysville R. D. 1; one sister, Mrs.Annabelle Stillwell, of Claysville; two grandchildren, Shirley, wife of J.D. Richmond and Robert C. Moore, both of Claysville and seven great-grandchildren. Father - Joseph Moore >From The Wash. Ob. 7/23/1923 SAMUEL R.MOORE SAMUEL MOORE DIES AT AGE OF 91 YEARS Native of Amwell Township, for Many Years Resident of Washington, Succumbs to Complications. Samuel R. Moore, a native of Amwell township, but long a resident of Washington, having lived a retired life for many years, died Saturday at 4:30 a. m. at the Leslie home, 45 West Walnut street, where he had made his home. Had he lived until August 31 he would have been 92 years of age. Death was do to complications, he having been in failing health for some time, and in a critical condition for several days. He was born in the Amity section, being a son of Joseph Moore. He came to Washington in 1865. He was at one time in the grocery business in the old Phoenix row. North Matin street, now the Capitol theatre building. The firm was known as Harsha & Moore. Giving up the grocery business he took up other business, dealing considerably in real estate about Washington, and owning at the time of his death a number of properties. He at one time lived in and owned the building at the southeast corner of Main and Walnut streets, later known as the Stocking property. Also at one time he owned and resided in the property, remoldeled of later years, where George W. Swingle now lives, at 591 West Chestnut street, just west of the brow of the West Chestnut street hill. He sold that property back about 1885 to the late Dr. D.H. Lewis, of Washington, which was that physician's home for several years, he subsequently selling it to Mr. Swingle. When Mr. Moore lived there, and at the time Dr. Lewis moved there, that part of Washington was out in the township, a part of what was known as Rankin town. Mr. Moore's first wife was Mary E. Wilson, of Pigeon Creek. She died in 1875, when black diphtheria was epidemic in this community. Four children were born to that union, one dying in infancy. Those surviving are J. Frank Moore, of Washington; S. W. Moore of Grand Rapids, Mich., but in business in Detroit, and Thomas W. Moore, of Washington. Mr. Moore's second wife was Sarah Brownlee, of North Franklin township. She died in 1911. Mr. Moore was a consistent member of the First U. P. church. Dr. Huber Ferguson, pastor of that church will conduct the funeral services which will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon. Samuel W. Moore Father - Samuel R. Moore Mother - Mary E. Wilson >From The Wash. Ob. 9/25/1931 Former Local Citizen Passes Away in Home In Detroit, Michingan Samuel W. Moore, 75, for many years a resident of this city, died in his home at Detroit, Mich., Wednesday morning. He left Washington only a few years ago. He was a brother of the late T. W. Moore, of East Wylie avenue, who died a year ago. His wife, Mrs. Jessie Moore, survives. The body will arrive in Washington this morning at 10 o'clock, and will be taken to the A. Blaine Day Funeral Home in West Maiden street, where funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Eastern Standard Time. The Rev. R. W. Nairn of the Third United Presbyterian Church will be in charge. Interment will be in the Washington Cemetery. Thomas W. Moore Father - W. Walker Moore Mother - Mary Ann Cook Moore >From The Wash. Ob. 2/28/1962 THOMAS W. MOORE Thomas W. Moore, of Washington R. D. 6, died Tuesday, February 27, 1962, at 6:10 p. m. after a three week illness. He was born in Franklin Township, Washington County, March 7, 1875, the last son of W. Walker and Mary Ann Cook Moore. He spent many years in the oil fields, returning in later years to the Moore farm in South Franklin Township. He was a member of the East Buffalo Presbyterian Church for many years. Mr. Moore lived the past 33 years with his sister, Mrs. Howard Vankirk, Washington R. D. 6. Surviving are three sisters, Agnes, wife of Howard Vankirk, Washington R. D. 6; Mrs Mary M. Day, Dunns Station R. D. 1, and Addie, wife of Williem E. Crosbie, Park avenue, and a number of of nieces and nephews. Four brothers and a sister are deceased.
