Helen, Most of our Myers were Primitive Baptist, some were preachers, some gave land for churches and some are still members of the Primitive Baptist Church. The Primitive Baptist did not believe in missions and missionaries nor did they have music in the church building. Your voices were God's musical instrument. I believe you will find that most of the early Baptist in the South were Primitive Baptist. Roger Williams was run out of one of the states and went to Providence, R.I. and established the first Baptist Church. The church split over missionaries/missions. All my ancestors were Primitive Baptist as far back as I have been able to trace them. Family lore has Jacob Myers leaving the Palatine because of religious persecution. I have a feeling he may have been Lutheran there. When he left there, it was the Holy Roman Empire. Wish I knew more. My husband's mother's family came from Sweden, and they have records through the Church back to forever. Helen you are a jewel. I wish I lived near enough to you to talk with you and pick your brain.
