Christian MAYER b Sep 18, 1714 in Ulm, d. Aug. 5, 1788 / Ulm at the age of 73 yrs. His memories state that "he descended from the danube from Ulm in a boat passing through Ingolstadt, Regensburg, Passau; then Linz to Vienna living for several months. From Vienna; to Bruenn to Olmutz; returning back to Vienna. Later to Hungary, passing thru Presburg, Gomorrha, Grau, Buda-Pesth (ofen); month later to Sclavonia, Neuheusel, Scaliz, dueruau and Serret, back to Olmutz in Moravia; then Breslau and Frankfort on the oder to Berlin. (Wow) This first Christian MAYER m. on Jul 4, 1738 to Fraulein Dorothea WEBER, dau of Johannes WEBER a silversmith. Dorothea b. Jul 21, 1719; d. Nov 19, 1801 in Ulm at 83 yrs. Children: Anno Domini b. Apr 15, 1739. Maria Magdelena b. 1740 Sep 16. Johannes (1st of name) b. Aug 21, 1741. Daniel b. Aug 9, 1744. Maria Waldpurga b. Feb 10, 1747. Johannes MAYER was the only child of the six to survive maturity. born in Ulm Aug 21, 1741. Married Maria Barbara ZORN, dau of Jacob ZORN of Kreuzhof and Anna Maria REIDMAYER. One son (Christian) and one dau (Maria Barbara MAYER) Their son follows below: Christian MAYER (noting 2nd Christian in this line). Christian was the only son of the preceding Christian MAYER to be born in Ulm Germany on Sept. 30, 1763. This family MAYER, was known as MAJER'S and were orginally from Frey & Pestalozzi, at Zurich, Switzerland fleeing the Imperial Armies. They're names were later written as MOYER in PA; MYERS in the Carolina's and MYERS MIERS MEYER(S) and MAYER(S) in MD, VA/WV. This Christian MAYER was in apprenticeship as a "clerk" in the commercial house of Hailbronner, an extensive dealer in Ulm. He remained there until 1781 when he migrated to above area of Switz. Stayed there for 3 years til Mar of 1784. While in Switzerland, he heard of the North American Republic of "free states" having just secured it's independence from Great Britain. Meeting with people in Zurich from his employers (whom ad already been over the Atlantic and described prospects to Christian) one being a Mr. Solomon KITT which was among the writer Brantz MAYER'S (fathers) papers. Mr. KITT wrote to Christian MAYER from Bale, Switzerland calling america the country of new liberties. From other "writings" Brantz MAYER arrived at the fact that his father, Christian MAYER (2nd) arrived in america abt 1784 - 1875 where papers resume showing Christian MAYER taking the oath of allegiance by the Act of Assembly for the St of Maryland on Feb 23, 1785 when he became a citizen of MD. Christian m. Anna Katarine BAUM on Feb 3, 1785. She was b. near Kutztown, Adams Co., PA on Apr 1, 1767. Anna was of german parentage on her father's side; Franco-Alsatian on her mothers the HENNINGEURS - french in language and tastes. They emigrated from Alsace to escape persecution aft the Revocation of the Edit of Nantz, settling as farmers in the Valley of Virginia betwen the Shennandoan and the Potomac rivers. The HENNINGEURS actually went back to Europe several more times to retrieve the monies that they hid bef fleeing. Christina and Anna BAUM/MAYER lived in a mansion on Saratoga Street in downtown Baltimore., MD. Anna was the dau of Christian BAUM - a soldier in the War of Independence; he died in the field at the battle of Brandywine. Her mother's name was Hannah BAUM b. HENNINGHUER; lived in PA til moving to Balto., in 1782 with her son Christian BAUM and 4 daughters; Mary, catharine, Susannah and Barbara. Children: Christian Brantz MAYER (3rd) was born in Baltimore, Maryland on Dec. 13th 1818. He died in Philadelphia, PA on Dec. 13, 1825. He was the son of Lewis Caspar Zorn MAYER, a Baltimore/Phila. merchant whom intermarried at Lancaster, PA on Oct 28, 1817 with his cousin, Susan OTTILIA Mayer b. Mar. 26, 1799, she was the dau of Christopher Bartholomew MAYER, an opulent merchant of Lancaster, PA. NOTE: Other children of Susan OTTILIA and Christopher Bartholomew MAYER Christopher Lewis MAYER (the 1st) b. Balto., Md Oct 22, 1820; d. in Phila. PA Dec 15, 1825. Susan Uulia b. in Balto., MD on Dec. 5, 1822. Charles Frederick MAYER b. Phila., PA Nov. 30, 1826. Christopher Lewis (yes the 2nd) b. Phil. Jan. 21, 1829. George may Keim MAYER b. Port Carbon, PA Nov 27, 1831 d. Sep. 3, 1833. Anne born in Balto., MD Nov 21, 1785; d. in Balto. June 2, 1868 - aged 83. She intermarried on Dec 9, 1802 with Frederick KONIG of Hanover, Germany. She was the only one of Brantz MAYER'S sisters who survived to maturity. She never had any offsprings. As you can see, there were many Christian's in this lineage.
