Christie and all, My name is Debbie Moyer Graviett and my line starts with John Moyers and Esther Contir that were married in Gophenheimer Church? in Berks Co. PA. date unknown. Esther is supposed to be a full-blooded Cherokee but I haven't been able to prove that yet. Esther died Jan 1807 in Cape Girardeau, MO. Their son Isaac, born Apr 1774 in Lincoln Co. N.C. maried Elizabeth Cotner. Isaac died Feb 1846 in Madison Co. MO. Their son Michael Moyers, born 10 Feb 1824, Madison Co, MO. married Sally Cheek. He died 27 Nov 1883. Their son Francis LaFayette "Dude" born 15 Aug 1864 in Madison CO. MO. died 19 Jan 1943 in Wayne Co, MO. married Nancy Elizabeth Welker. Their son Francis Von Moyer was my grandfather. Years ago my grandfather took me to my great uncle Key Moyers and he told me how 3 brothers originally came from Germany. One settled around Madison Co, MO, one went to ILL or KY and supposedly one went West to never be heard from again. So from Berks CO, PA. then to Lincoln Co, N.C. then ending up in the bootheel of Missouri. From what I've been reading I think you and I may have a lot in common. Also my grandfather changed his name to "Von Francis Moyer" and he dropped the "s". I will gladly share and exchange info with others.
