Chrystie, YES. There are a blue jillion Jacob Myers. Look at Filby's shipping list and you will see what I mean, and a lot of them came the same year. I haven't look at the list in along time, but need to take another look. Something might ring a bell. As it is, I feel like a ding-a-ling. : ) What is so frustrating is, we have him in Philadelphia, Pa., but how the heck did he get there? Bobbye
Bobbye, I was reading just last night on Geo. MAYER/MOYER/MYERS of the 2nd Germanna Colony in VA; he actually left that area and suddenly appears in PA where he was literally involved in some sort of revolt, I believe the words were "public disturbance". Again, he's back in VA fighting a man in court whom took over a dec'd man's indentured papers on him. Poor George. This was after his ship wrecked and he lost all of his money before leaving Europe. Later, his son Michael appears in Rowan Co., NC where he marries, but a year later is back with his brother Christopher and father George in VA again! I read that it might take a family or group 6 months to travel from PA to GA. And they'd stay for a month or so and head back again - during the winter months! To get a good understanding on how our ancestors' earned the word "pioneers" read about SEVIER, whom Sevier Co., TN was named after. He hopped all around, from PA, to the old Mississippi Territories (now TN/GA); as well as David CROCKETT and Daniel BOONE. These guys traveled along Indians and bufallo trails risking their lives and probably enjoyed it - and they did this on foot, lucky if they had a mule must less a horse. And a wagon sometimes couldn't make the paths. Amazing. But it lends you a more "open mind" and might help you to sort out the if's and how's on Jacob. And I have a breakdown if my car won't start for a day. At least we have tow trucks to come to our aide. -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER > Chrystie, > > YES.
