the old Salem baptize church of Christ in larissa, Texas, right outside of the town of Ballard and very close to mount Selma, Texas....or half way between Tyler and Jacksonville on the old Jacksonville highway or old 69. we have a new 69 which is wonderful but old 69 goes from Tyler, Gresham, flint, Mt. Selma, and then Jacksonville, Texas. old larissa use to be a college town but that left many years ago. the old Salem Baptist church of Christ is no longer there, but the cemetery is there. that is the one that I have shed so many tears over. where David hadean Myers is buried. it is in such bad shape...many of the stones were put on a truck and sent somewhere to be dumped in a river. they think that president Taylor's brother is buried there but no one knows for sure. the church was started in 1849 but they started record keeping in about 1855 I believe (from memory). need anymore info, will try and get it for you. blessings, Helen.
