Early History of The MEYER Settlement in America. The MEYERS were numerous in some parts of Germany concluded from the vast amt that emigrated to America annually from a very early era, all mostly European's up to present (time book was written - 1890). It is not the pretense in these writings that all MEYER'S are connected. Insofar, the MEYER surname is as common as MILLER or SMITH. Bef the Great West opened-up for migration and new settlements, Pennsylvania (PA) rec'd more of these MEYER'S emigrants than any other state in the US. Land rec'ds at Harrisburg, PA show that from 1733 - 1752 the MEYER name occurs abt 50 times in connection with land tracts taken in Lancaster Co., PA and some first MEYER names appear more then several times (surely one person bought more then one land tract).
