I was fortunate enough to receive The MEYER Family; written by Henry MEYER in 1890; printed by Lauer and Matill, Cleveland, OHIO from Gary MYERS the 3rd of Columbus OHIO. Thank you Gary! Written on the front page is "Compliments of Mary MEYER ABBOTT" Rebersburg, Centre Co., PA I'll start by telling all of you that there is no surname index, so I"m going to type it out here on the newsgroup for all of you to see because after just glimpsing through the writings I see that this MEYER family surname as been seen spelled many different ways in different records but they are the MEYER family; also, not only were they in PA, but a branch headed for OH and several other's made their way to NC so I think we have a wide range of migration here. With that, here we go (in my own words to save my fingers and sanity). Pg 1-2 Entered according to an act of Congress 1890 by Henry MEYER in the office of Librarian of Congress, Wash. D.C. INDEX Preface Pg 5 Early History of the MEYER Settlementin PA Pg 9 John MEYER and Descendants Pg 22 Jacob MEYER and Descendants Pg 34 Christopher MEYER and Descendants Pg 89 Michael MEYER Pg 129 ** Apears he's the oldest, or next and he did not marry nor leave any children; died young. Conclusion Pg 130 PREFACE - This book was prepared for the author's own personal research, not for publication because he felt that his ancestry was never written and would someday be forgotten and from alot of encouragement from his MEYER descendants to place their knowledge of their kin and ancestor's into writing so that 200 years of family history would not leave this world with them. Many dates are approximate but considerable pains were taken to be as precise as possible. Some dates and lineage are long lost. Most of the material for this book was collected bet 1882 - 1883, some additons by Jan 1890 with more proper dates. He does not go past 5 generations for obvious reasons that the book and works would be to extensive. Credit is given to: Hon. Jacob G. MEYER - Aaronsburg, PA Maj.
