    1. Re: [MOYERS] Pat ourselves on the back.
    2. Okay I am dealing with two near deaths and two car accidents and grandson in hospital all in ten days. I am fine so far.. Trusting God. I am Susi Jones Pentico from Ray Dee JONES SR, from Ida Victoria Foulk JONES who's father was H. Foulk, his MOM a MYERS :>) Catherine Myers was daughter of John MYERS of Perry Co PA born near Harrisburg 1809, his father is Valentine MOYER? (spelling) and Betsey Blessing er MOyer, whom probably died in Dauphin Co PA. HIS FATHER according to bible was PHILIP MOYER . Family descends from Switzerland. Philip is probably the wagonmaster in Berks Co , Greenwich area. Near JOHN FOLK the also ancestor of H FOULK. Tis a tangled web. For some reason the kids made little reference to Grand or great Grand parents at the 1870/80 reunion in ILL. Have to check papers as to date. The only solid thing I have is Bible data. and from the birth of JOHN MYERS and mar to Sarah Jane ( Elizabeth ) FOULK, dau Catherine and mar to H Foulk. whom had Ida. Her name was never IDA it was Victoria Mae but she changed to Ida cause bro could not say Victoria and it came out Ida. But she lived and died and buried as Ida Foulk JONES NORRIS. in Cheyenne, WYO. Grandson survived near fatal accident, other grandson still under Dr care for sever ulcer. HE is only 11. My dau totaled car in rain, son was clipped by fast lane changing speeder who ran. and I was setting 3 cars back at lite. Giving big truck in front of me plenty of room and he >>>>>>> backs into me and wipes out radiator and grill.two days later after son and 10 days after daus. FUN ain't it. My Uncle still fighting for life against cancer and I fear slowly loosing ground. I a m his care giver and coordinator for DR etc. HE has live in nurse now. So now you have heard from me. BTW I have pics of Catherine MYERS and maybe of JOHN MYERS and Sarah . Will have to check files.. Susi

His sis did a good article about him and his death at her place think 1948 or so.. Also picture of them in the local paper this week. Robert Leroy Parker and Harry Alonzo Longabaugh. I met one of the men that was part of his group. HE helped raised my DAD .I missed the show wish I had gotten to see it. Susi

    3. Helen, Thank you once again :) <---- that's me smiling everytime I read you're email. Would it help any if I let you upload you're files to a temporary area of my server. I have unlimited space. I can setup a folder just for you're files. The files would just sit there til you got your computer trubbles out of the way. Then, when you're back up and running you can "download" all of your files back to your harddrive. I might add, those laptops are worth a look and computers are getting very cheap these days. Chin-up Helen, I know you keep mine up there. If anyone would like me to put Helen's lineage out here, please, by all means just let me know. Helen, is it ok with you. 3. THANKS, MY KIDDOS...BUT I HAD SOMEONE OVER HERE TODAY FOR ABOUT FIVE HOURS AND WE HAVE SAVED EVERYTHING THAT WE COULD FIND AND LINDA HAS PUT EVERYTHING IN SPECIAL FOLDERS AND THOSE FOLDERS HAVE NOW BEEN INDIVIDUALLY "SAVED". I TELL YOU LOSING THEM ONCE, WORKING TO GET THEM BACK....THEN HAVING TO WORK TODAY TO TRY TO SAVE THE REST. THIS IS JUST MORE THAN MY LITTLE OLE 75 YEAR OLD MIND CAN HANDLE AND I AM NOT GOOD AT IT ANYWAY. I CAN DO PLUMBING, AM A PRETTY GOOD CARPENTER, DARN GOOD COOK, I CAN CUT DOWN TREES, BUILD A HOTHOUSE (IF YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN, DON'T CALL ME) BUT ALMOST ANYTHING I HAVE TO DO, I CAN. COMPUTERS, I AM AN 1800 GAL. SINCE MY ARTHRITIS IS BOTHERING ME, I MADE UP MY MIND THAT I AM NOT DOING ANY MORE IRONING. SO, WHEN LINDA LEFT TODAY, SHE LEFT WITH 42 ALMOST PERFECT BLOUSES, ALL WERE BEAUTIFUL COTTON BLOUSES. MY NIECES ARE IN THE CLOTHING BUSINESS AND WHEN THEY HAVE WORN SOMETHING A TIME OR TWO, GUESS WHO GETS THE LEFT OVERS AND YOU KNOW...I DON'T MIND IT ONE BIT. I STILL HAVE ONE CLOSET OF SHORT SLEEVES AND ONE CLOSET OF LONG SLEEVES AND I DON'T THINK I HAVE SPENT HARDLY ANYTHING ON CLOTHES BUT I HAVE SPENT A FORTUNE ON COMPUTERS. WE HAVE THREE...JIM HAS MY OLD ONE...AND HE HAS HIS OLDIE-OLDIE THAT IS NOT EVEN IBM COMPATIBLE. I CAN'T STAND ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT WORK SO I THINK THIS ONE IS A GONER. THANKS FOR THE OFFER FOR THE STORAGE. THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE BUT IS PAST HELP. MY COMPUTER IS MY WORK, MY PASTIME AND WITHOUT IT, I AM ABSOLUTELY LOST. YOU WERE SAYING SOMETHING THAT A CERTAIN KIND WAS THE BEST...I CANNOT REMEMBER WHICH ONE IT WAS. REFRESH MY MEMORY AGAIN. BECAUSE I THINK THAT THIS BABY HAS HAD IT WITH ME. AFTER TODAY AND WHAT WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH WITH IT, I AM READY TO TURN UP MY TOES. WILL TALK WITH YOU LATER. I HAVE TO STAY AT WORK FOR IF I EVER QUIT, I WILL GO TO EATING AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT DOES TO YOU AND THEN NO MORE BLOUSES-- GIGGLE-- I AM NOT EATING SO THEY HAVE ME ON ENSURE.....THINK ABOUT HAVING THAT FOR YOUR 34 ANNIVERSARY. YE GADS!!!!!!BLESSINGS, ME. THANKS AND BLESSINGS TO ALL...HELEN (TRUBBLE).

    2. chrystiem
    3. Forgot to mention. I found another article abt the MUIR family in MO and the Dakota's and following their surname was the pronounciation in parren's as (MOY-IER). They were of "german" descent. I also received email from a fellow researcher and she told me her surname was McMOYER. I can't say I've ever seen it spelled this way before, but there's probably no less then 100 different ways. She also went on to tell me that she was certain her McMOYER'S were of "Scotch-Irish" descent. I know that those "MAYER(S)" that I've written about so many times in the past, upon arriving in America in the 1700 - 1800's surname was once spelled MAJOR MAJOER and MAJER as well as MAHOR and MAHER only to have their surname spelled on land deeds and oath's of allegiance's as MIER(S) MEYER(S) and later MOYER(S), still later MYER(S). I've seen my own lines spelled as MYRES and MURR on census records and my gg grandfather's marriage bond, certificate and license (3 documents) was written MIERS when I know on his birth and death certificate, tombstone and obit it was always spelled as MYERS. Go figure..... oh the ache in my head. And I can only assume from familylore and religious backgrounds that we were of german and or english descent. But, I still have my doubts. I grewup with a family of MYERS that were Jewish. What is everyone's heritage. I have met Africian American's with the surname of MOYER(S) too. And never realized how popular are surname actually was til the last 2 years. Interesting, to say the least. 3. Dear Chrystie, I think the most important thing, when we have stressful, sad happenings in our lives to deal with, is to know there are family members, and friends who care about us and are supportive. Don't you? That is what is so great about our lists, and our email in general. We are only a few clicks away from loving folks to share our sorrow and and our joy. 3. Linda and gang, Like people, groups of any kind are and should all be different. Some newsgroups out here are very strict and stanch in their beliefs that "we stay on the subject line". That might work well for "them". Some groups practice surname mania, now this is just my opionion, respectfully to other groups. But here on the MOYERS board, it just seems like "we" all fell into place.A place that's about as naturally family oriented as it gets. And I for one am so glad that it did. And it happened when I wasn't even looking. Literally banged into rootsweb one night while surfing aimlessly trying to entertain my sad thoughts. We all need a break from time to time away from our jobs, family, friends and even our hobbies, no matter what they are and especially life's problems, no matter what the level of the problem is. That's when we need a support group all the more. But for the life of me, I don't understand how anyone could get upset if "we" MOYERS feel a need from time to time to air out our personals. We're family reseachers, into family whether it be descendants or ancestry, family is in our blood. You're right Linda. A group is suppose to be supportive of each other, regardless of the issue. That's just it. The issue is "family". And with family comes support. And with support comes unity. And with unity comes alot of "meetings of minds...." hey, two heads sure are better then one. So, if we continue to stay as a solid unified group, whether the board is quiet for a time (that's expected) or rambling on about our "personals" that just makes it that much better for us when we need to pull all of our resources together to help each other and those that just join-in with us that are in need our help in finding their roots. That makes us stronger as a group. Everytime someone "unsubscribes" it comes back to me. Honestly, it's rare. We pick-up a few newbies every week or so. Which leads me to the next sentence. If anyone out here hasn't yet introduced themselves,by all means, please do. I can speak for us MOYERS MYERS MAYERS MEIRS MIERS MEYERS etc.... here comes that surname headache... but if you're out there and you're new or you've yet to figure out just how to post. Just do it. You're on the best board out here because there are no rules. Can't be. We're adults. All that's expected of you is to just be supportive of each other and god knows we are that. I'm proud to be apart of the MOYERS group. I really am. It's helped me thru many a tough nights. And Brenda, it's ok. You didn't set anything off anymore then what I've lived with for many years now. Felt kinda good to tell the group alittle bit more abt me. Makes me more human to others;) Life just somethings get's in the old way. Take Helen. She's made me shake my head many nights realizing that life's too short not to laugh at our shortcomings. It was the widest smile I had enjoyed in awhile when she spoke of her mother and the "potty" thing.... I'm still laughing just thinking about it. And Helen has been a major genealogist for many years, D.A.R. many times over; I know Linda is extremely well MYERS MOYERS MAYER(S) versed. How much luckier can we get.... we have John and Pearl here too! I haven't seen anything from Suzie. I hope she's still with us. Enough from me. I"m writing a book again! Love all of you. As I was looking up near the end of the program a letter was produced that Sundance wrote in 1908 to his old boss. It was signed A.D. MYERS. I took a double look but did not get a chance to catch anything else other then the signature. Does anyone know if he was a MYERS. I MAY HAVE MADE YOU LAUGH ABOUT THE POTTY, BUT WHAT I AM DEALING WITH NOW IS NOT FUN...I CAN'T EVEN LAUGH MYSELF AND THAT IS RARE, INDEED FOR I HAVE FOUND LIFE TO BE EXCITING, MEAN, UGLY, FUN, BUT RIGHT NOW, I FIND NOTHING FUN ABOUT TRYING TO PULL MY COMPUTER TOGETHER, WORKING HOURS TRYING TO SAVE EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY ALL BUT DESTROYED. THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES ME FEEL HONORED TO BE AMONG FRIENDS WHO CAN LAUGH IS TO LOOK AROUND ME AND SEE HOW LUCKY I REALLY AM TO BE FIRST.........ALIVE.......SECONDLY....I AM NOT IN THE BED AND NOT IN A WHEELCHAIR.....I DO NOT HAVE CANCER AS FAR AS I KNOW....BUT RIGHT NOW, I AM MAD AS ______ AND I DON'T LIKE IT ANYMORE. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, IT IS JUST A LOT OF WORK AND IT APPEARS THAT I AM GOING TO HAVE TO SHELL OUT ANOTHER TWO GRAND AND THAT MAKES ME UNHAPPY, ESPECIALLY SINCE MY COMPUTER IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD. JUST THOUGHT I NEEDED TO LET YOU KNOW WHY I HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND LATELY. YOU DON'T NEED SOMEONE THAT HAS THEIR HEAD BETWEEN THEIR LEGS...I TRY AND THINK OF ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE IN SUCH WORSE SHAPE THAN I AM...EVEN THOUGH I HAVE LOST 25.5 PERCENT OF MY BONE DENSITY IN MY SPINE AND HIP. WITH A BROKEN BACK, A FRACTURED ARM AND WHEN YOU YAWN AND GET A BROKEN JAW, IT IS TIME TO LOOK INTO THE SITUATION AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON BY SOMEONE THAT APPEARS TO KNOW MORE THOSE THAT ARE SO "VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE" SO AM THINKING THAT WE WILL BE TAKING A TRIP TO SCOTT AND WHITE IN TEMPLE, TEXAS. SO BESIDES THE PRAYERS THAT ARE NEEDED BY THOSE WE ARE IN TOUCH WITH EVERY DAY, I STILL CAN GIVE THANKS THAT I DON'T HAVE CANCER...AM NOT IN A NURSING HOME...AND STILL HAVE A HUSBAND...WE CAN ALWAYS LOOK AROUND AND FIND SOMEONE THAT WE WOULD NOT LIKE TO TRADE PLACES WITH. AS SOON AS I GET OUT OF THIS SLUMP, WILL SEND IN MY HISTORY EVEN THOUGH, CRISSY, YOU HAVE IT. LOVE, HUGS AND MANY BLESSINGS TO THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE HAVING HEALTH PROBLEMS OR PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND. 3. Sharon, Regarding what you wrote below. If you goto the MAYER family file that I have on my familytree site at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/k/r/a/Christina-C-Krabal/ look part of the way down for the Descendant Chart for the Melchoir MAYER family or goto directly there by clicking on http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/k/r/a/Christina-C-Krabal/GENE2-0001.htm l Once there, perform a search for the first name Christian. You'll see a Christian born in 1763. He's the son of Johann MAYER and his wife's name was "Margarett(a)" UNK. These lines eventually were seen as MYER(S) MEYER(S) MIER(S) and MOYER(S). I have the orginal "works" on this lineage put together by Brantz MAYER in 1865 or so as a priviate print for his ancestors and family members. One ancestor came in through the port of Annapolis, MD migrating to Frederick, MD once part of VA. Two brothers and a married sister headed for PA; one in York, one in Lancaster and the sister and husband went to Phila. PA. Still another headed for N. Carolina and their uncle went back to the old country, Ulm, Wurtemberg, Germany and a aunt went to Austraila. There's alot of lineage on "this" line. But let me warn you first, I don't know if it's the same as the one you're looking for thought they were from Lancaster and York PA, there were alot of John's with sons Christian and Henry during this era and many of them came out of MD PA, once part of VA. And their surnames have been seen in so many different types of records from land deeds, postal to old city directories in every imaginable form; and while John was once written in old german as Johann(a) or Hans, there were alot of them that had wives named Margarett(a) never knowing their maiden names. Sorry, I just don't want you to get too excited thinking it could be your line, though it very well may be. If you think there is a connection, let me know. I never did get the entire lineage up there. It's only abt 25% online at my site.
