I wish I had paid more attention but the glimpse I caught in the movie was the PARKER was writing to someone with the last name of MYERS back home - where I don't know. Also, another research idea I just thought of while watching Littletree - many children of Cherokee ancestry were taken from their families and placed into orphanages - americanization type schools taking away their true names and giving them american names. Many of these children (if not most) never knew their real parents nor remembered their real true names. There surely are files at the Nat'l Archives that documented whom and where these children were from, etc. Also, the other night I was reading about the Orphan Trains. In the mid to late 1800's 30 orphans at a time would be put on trains in NJ and NY and taken by train to different towns with train depots in KY TN MO IL and a few other mid-western states where they'd be choosen by families with the financial abilities to pay for these poor little souls. There is supposedly books that have all of these children's names matter of fact, there's something about this online regarding the publication of these children, who they were and where they were taken. Let me write to my cousin online and ask her for that link again. Chrystie, Heard a cute one yesterday. This lady was I was working with on a project told me about an incident when she was in Tennessee. It seems she was visiting the Smokey Mt area looking at cemeteries. She met a couple and they discussed who they were looking for and their paths crossed at three or four cemeteries. It seems she may have been looking for Birchfields and the other couple was looking for Mars. They had not introduced themselves to each other; so, the next cemetery they visited she saw them sign the register. She went over to discover who they were. MYERS??? MYERS!!! That's the way my grandpa pronounced it. MARS, and he has been dead for fifty years. I thought we were Martians until I was an old lady. I wonder if it is written anywhere as Mars. Bobbye - an Alabama Myers descendant.
Alot of you are behind me on time, I'm eastern. So to let you know that showing right now on HBOF is The Education of LITTLETREE" abt a little Cherokee boy taken form his oppressed family in 1930. They were from the Smoky Mtns. I believe it was Sevier County. You might want to check it out. The scenery and log cabins give you an idea as to how our ancestor's might have lived. And many of us have Cherokee heritage. It's sad though. Get the hankies out. Hello, I'm searching for a Rosie Myers living in Altoona or Petersburgh around 1891/1892. I have letters in my hand from my cousin, Robert E. Kemmler in St. Louis, which he has written to his relatives in New Orleans and Huntingdon/Blair County. One or two letters where directed to Rosie Myers. Possibly there's a link between the Myers and the Cresswell families. Any hint would be highly appreciated. WELCOME MARIE: WE ARE GLAD TO HAVE YOU ABOARD. YOU HAVE SELECTED ABOUT THE NICEST GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT I HAVE MET UP WITH IN A LONG LONG TIME. BLESSINGS, HELEN TERRELL NUNNALLY.
Hi Marie, And I'm glad to see you're posting. I see that you too are researching your MYERS ancestry. Why don't you tell the group a little bit more details on whom you're looking for, dates, areas etc... maybe someone out here will connect with you. You never know. Most of the MOYERS, not all, but alot of their ancestor's spelled their surnames in so many different ways. MIER(S) MEYER(S) MYER(S) MYRE(S) MCMOYER(S) MOYERES I've seen it spelled so many different ways from all over the country from PA, OH, WV, VA, TN, KY, IL, MO, IN, TX, OK, VA, NJ and as far away as Austria and Austraila and Canada. I know I'm curious to see where you're MYERS were or are from! Again, welcome aboard and want to remind everyone that if you don't post out here know one will be able to help you. So, if you haven't yet posted, please, go for it. I'm just the old administrator here. This is a very calm, considerate group. Don't be afraid of us;) We're the good guys! >> >> Chrystie MYERS at [email protected] >> The List Administrator of the MOYERS MYRES SWECKER >> COWGER BROOKOVER and KRABAL Rootsweb Newsgroups

thanks suzi... well we got the commode unstopped, at 5 in the morning we finally got the water cut off and we got in bed at 6 am monday morn (had to empty the little pan every 3.7 minutes). the old man and i had lots of fun nudging each other that it is "your time" not thine. i finished my 11 washers of sheets and towels, folded but not put away. had to go to visitation tonight, funeral tomorrow at 11. we think that we have the water stopped from leaking (line that leads from the washer to the laundry icemaker and fridge) in the insulation of the walls. now you talk about something smelling (we thought it was food but was instead soured wet insulation. we have fans now blowing into the area. the rugs are dry in the hall and we soaked up all of the water with all of the towels. it has to end somewhere and hopefully, this is it...positive attitude....but a very tired old man and old woman are trying to get over the ordeal. the worst thing is that i use to handle things like this and it was a snap...today with age, it is not...part of that is worry about mother....we try to make every day a final one and that way, we will have done our best to give her the best. love and blessings, suzi. helen.

Yes, Susi, I think we are 'drawn' to distant cousins, just like in the past so many cousins married each other. There may be some master plan we are unaware of. LINDA...IT CAN'T GET MUCH WORSE....AS I TOLD YOU WE HAD A BACKED UP COMMODE, GOT THAT FIXED....THEN JIM CAME IN AND SAID, THE FREEZER DOOR IS OPEN....AND WE HAVE LOST ALL OF OUR FREEZER THINGS....THEN I WENT TO THE KITCHEN TO GET SOMETHING TO DRINK AT 1:45 AND THE CARPET WAS SOAKED. WHAT HAPPENED WAS THAT THE PLUMBER HAD REPAIRED THE PIPE BUT THE MATERIAL WAS NOT ALL THAT GOOD SO IT STARTED LEAKING AND I HAD 4 INCHES OF WATER AND GOT TO BED ABOUT FIVE. THEN WOKE UP THIS MORNING TO FIND THAT CRAIG MY NEPHEW'S SON HAD DIED...VISITATION TONIGHT. SO GOTTA FINISH ALL OF THESE TOWELS AND THEN TRY TO GET MYSELF TOGETHER. LOVE, HUGS AND BLESSINGS TO ALL. HELEN.
