    1. [MOYERS] Civil War Photographs Online
    2. Chrystie Myers
    3. Candid Shots of the Civil War It's a rare family that has an identifiable photo of an ancestor in Civil War uniform. Nevertheless, when conducting genealogical research on individuals who served, you want to be able to picture the context of the war and what any Civil War soldier's experience would have been like. To fulfill that very need, the Library of Congress has put over 1,000 of its significant Civil War photos online so that you can peruse them and get a closer look at the scenes both before and after battles. These impressive images show groups of military personnel, preparations for and the aftermath of war, as well as a number of individual portraits of officers and enlisted men. Best of all, the photos are thoroughly documented so you can understand exactly what you're looking at and the circumstances of the photographic moment. http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammem/cwphome.html -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER

    3. Dear Dianna, I saw your post about Vanderpool. This is probably a long shot, but if you are like me, when you hit a brick wall. you are willing to try any thing. I have a Vanderpool in my data base, but only very indirectly connected to my Moyers/Myers line. Her name is Olive Mobley Vanderpool. She was the half sister of my ancestor, Henry Mobley. Olive was born 3 April, 1847 in Detroit, MI. She married Nelson Floyd Vanderpool, born 28 March 1842 in Yates, Orleans Co., New York. He died 26 July, 1917 In Troy, Oakland Co., MI. He and Olive were married 11 Oct., 1870 in Detroit, MI. My contact for this information is Phyllis Vanderpool Gormley. She is one of the editors of the Rootsweb Review that I get weekly via e-mail. I am sure you can contact her there. Her address is 4010 Brocker Road, Metamora, MI 48455. Hope this might just be of some help.

    1. [MOYERS] RE: Henry MEYER Lancaster/Lebanon PA 1723-1890
    2. Chrystie Myers
    3. I've added more pages for the HENRY MEYER BOOK of PA - written in 1890 book that I'm working on putting online, in it's entirety. It's just gonna take me awhile. This book chronicles this MEYER family, from Germany back to ca1723 when they first settled along the MUHLBACH River in and around Lancaster and Lebanon Counties of PA. GOTO my MYERS MOYERS website: BOOK IN TEXT FORMAT: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/meyerbook.txt BOOK IN WEB FORMAT: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/meyerbook.html MAINSITE: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/myersfam.html Below are some that are buried at the old MUHLBACH located church of the Lutheran and Reformed at TULPEHOCKEN; Among the MEYERS buried at MUHLBACH with tombstones with inscriptions are: MOYER, Catharine, wife of J.M. born Oct 1747; died Oct 11, 1825. MOYER, Catharine, wife of J.M. born Oct 15, 1789; died May 9, 1852. MOYER, John George, born Sep 7, 1783; died Oct 22, 1804. MOYER, Johannes, died Dec. 11, 1786; aged 67 years. MEYER, Elizabeth, wife of J.G. M. born Jan 30, 1779; died Apr 7, 1855. MEYER, John George, born Oct 13, 1774; died Oct 21, 1826. And here's a tidbit of what I typed this afternoon. *NOTE: Among the taxables in HEIDLEBERG TWP, PA in the year following the seperation of BERKS COUNTY from LANCASTER 1752, are Jon MIRE and Henry MIRE. Six years later, John MYER is assessed for his worth; Henry MYER; Isaac MEYER. This Isaac MEYER, the founder of MEYERSTOWN, PA was assassinated in a public house at MEYERSTOWN, pA on July 15, 1770. Someone shot him through a window after nightfall. Isaac MEYER was born on Jun 4, 1730 and is buried in the old cemetery of TULPEHOCKEN REFORMED CHURCH. Isaac MEYER was Justice of the PEACE and a very prominent resident in his section of settlement of MEYERSTOWN, PA. He was related, in someway, to the MUHLBACH MEYER¹S as Heister Clymer MEYER is a descendant. -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected]

    3. The only information I have on "my" Christian Moyer is that he and wife, Barbara, presented children Elizabeth b. 1811 and John b. 1816 for baptism at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, Lancaster Co, PA. John grew up using the name "John Moyer," but Elizabeth may have been her formal name, and Christian Moyer may have been the father's formal name. They may have moved out of the area, or legal documents may have him listed under another given name. This has been one of my brick walls for more than 10 years! Barbara

    3. Christian b 1763, son of Johannes Mayer b 1741 d 1809 mother unk. Johannes was born in York, PA. His father was Christian MAYER b 1714 d 1788. Christian MAYER, son of Marcus "Marx" MAYER b 1684 d 1740. Marcus was born in Gross, Schsenheim, Ulm, Stadthauptmann, Lauingen but migrated in through Annapolis, MD; migrating up to Carroll County, back into the Monocacy River area of today's Frederick, Maryland. From there he made his home in York, PA and had family in Lancaster and Philadelphia, PA. He also had family that stayed in Frederick; some headed for Baltimore City; a few headed down into the Carolina's; still a few more headed westerly into VA and from there it's anyone's guess. Though I have first names for the above mother's, both Margarett(a)'s/Margaret it's speculation. -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER

    3. Bobbyee and group, Though I do believe that my one GGG was born on Mars, maybe Jupiter I do know that his records sat in the very building that (my luck) burned down (another lie - conspiracy gov't coverup, so I won't yell ALIENS)! That's why sometimes everything becomes speculation. I've written to the National Archives - never get a response. The best thing to do when you hit a brickwall is to either get in your car and drive to the Nat'l Archives (dont' tell them I sent you - they must hate my name by now) or visit a Mormon Archival Center where you can order microfilms but now they have everything on CD'S. It took them several years to accomplish this and they're in PC format. If you visit their site at http://www.familysearch.com and look for the links to their ordering infor site you can search for your ancestors' - and if they come up it will show which CD they're on. From there you can call them 1-800 or write or even order online (if you're comfortable with that); they will send you your request within 2 weeks. Better then our Nat'l Archives. There must be a stack of forms I've sent to them and they're probably just sitting on someone's desk and they employees look at it on lunch break and go Tee Hee.... ;) -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER

    1. [MOYERS] John MOYERS and Catherine COUCH
    2. Chrystie Myers
    3. Here's what I have on Catherine COUCH and John MOYERS John MOYERS b abt 1765 Culpeper Co., VA m. Aug 1789 Greene Co., TN to Catherine COUCH. I have only traced one son, Peter MYERS to them. Peter m. Winney WILLOUGHBY and they had a son named Jacob MYERS who m. Rhoda WEBB. All of this above information came from Smoky Mtn Historical Society; Prof. DUNN's lineage reports; WEBB researchers in TN; Mormon Records; Now, the rest is what I have derived from my local Peabody Institute's Genealogy Dept; The MAYER Family written by Brantz MAYER in 1876 which I have in my possession. John MOYERS was the son of Vincent MOYERS b 1721 d 1797 and Elziabeth NEWCOMER. Other siblings of John MOYERS include: Maria, Salome, Benjamin, Anna, Christian and Barbara. Christian b 1752 d 1841 m. Barbara BUCKWALTER I have demised that Vincent MOYERS was the son of Hans George MAYER b 1681 d 1753 of West Earl Twp, PA abd Barbara LANDIS b in Switzerland d. West Earl Twp. Hans George MAYER, son of Hans Vincent or Martin MAYER (Reverand) b 1647 d 1693 and Anna HENN b 1647 d 1706 - both born in Retschen, O, Switzerland / both d. in Gross, Schsenheim, Wuerttemberg, Germany. Hans George MAYER was the immigrant. This is purely speculation on my behalf but the lineage are from notable diaries, documents, lineage book from Brantz above and I can only surmise because I've seen too many other lineage's from same area and era/timeframes with very very similiar if not same first names so don't quote me on above. Hope if helps though. My ggg James Napoleon MYERS was reportedly the adopted son of Susannah/Suzannah MOYERS, dau of James David MOYERS and Mary Polly BLACKBURN. Though I'm very certain he was an orphan; I know that Suzannah's MOYERS did in deed go by MYERS eventually. Keep an open mind with or surnames; MOYER MOYERS MUIR MAHER MAYHER MAYER MAJOR MAJER MAER MOIER MIER MEYER MYRES MYERS we could go on and on. -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER
