    1. Re: [MOYERS] RE: Christian MAYER/MOYER/MIER/MYERS
    2. Hello Marie, I know absolutely nothing about Isaac Myers who reportedly took the Ohio River route west. Family history has Jacob Myers coming from the Palatine area of Germany (HRE) around 1760. Supposedly ABRAHAM was the first child born after the boat landed. He died in Walker County, Alabama in 1840. Records indicate that JACOB was a private in the Orangeburgh Militia, in what is now South Carolina, during the Revolutionary War. ISAAC was the second born after their arrival. He was born around 1762. Lore has Isaac migrating west via the Ohio River Route. That's the last he is heard from as far as descendants know. ABRAHAM along with his father, JACOB, migrated west via Virgiania, Carolina. Georgia into Alabama. At the time of their migration, I believe that Virginia, Carolina and Georgia may have stretched from the Atlantic Coast to the Mississippi River. Pennsylvania was just a small place. Somewhere in Virginia, ABRAHAM married SARAH ROBERSON, about 1792. In 1794, they were in Elbert County, Georgia, where their first son, John, was born. All of Abraham and Sarah's children appear to have been born in Georgia. JACOB died between 1805 and 1808 in Jackson County, Ga. In 1808, his property was sold by his heirs. I know this has not helped you with your Ohio Myers, but maybe it is a start. Start with yourself and work back as far as you can go. You might check the 1800 through 1850 Ohio census records to see if you can find an Isaac. Your libraries may have books written about the westward migration or even the Myers of Ohio, etc. Of course, Isaac may not have made it to Ohio. That was just the migration route that he was taking. 3. Thanks, Marilyn for answering my message. None of the persons you mentioned mean anything to me because I don't have enough information to go on. I don't know my grandfathers parents names, so until I find that out, I am groping in the dark. I will have to keep looking until I can find them. There are so many Jacob Myerses it is hard to decide which one you are looking for. Thanks again for your help. 3. Hi, Bobbye: It sounds like you may be hunting for some of the same Jacob Myerses that we are looking for. My grandfather, Jacob Alfred Myers was born in Zanesville, Ohio,August 2, 1843. I don't know his parents names or anything about him from there on back. He is buried in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, but I don't know where he came from to Arkansas. If you find anything on Ohio Myers that might be tied to him, I would appreciate hearing about them. 2. Chrystie Myes
    3. Speaking of Christian MYERS. I have found (as I stated in my last email) 3 lines stemming from the name Christian MYERS. 1 - Hans Christian MAYER from Ulm, Wurtemburg, German; they came in on the shores of PA. Some stayed, some migrated west into the OHIO Valley; from there it's anyone's guess. (Records show a tie with Baltimore MYERS) 2 - Christian MIER seen in tax, federal census and postal records in the Carroll and Frederick Counties area of MD with record holdings in Baltimore. The surname associated with this particular Christian has also been seen as MAHER and MOYER 3 - Christian MYERS - shows up in old KY and Greene Co., TN All three of the Christian MYERS had son's that carried their first name. As it appears to me, two of the Christian's were the son's of a Christian, too. It is clearly possible that they're one and the same "person" but it's just as probable that they're all different people. I'll be figuring this one out for eons to come. I'm not even going to mention the first name "Jacob" ;) Same senerio. -- Chrystie MYERS - ROOTSWEB.COM List Administrator - [email protected] BROOKOVER, COWGER, KRABAL, MOYERS, MYRES, SWECKER

    3. Garland As I write this, I'm working on new information handed to me by a D.A.R. registered historian/genealogist from the Jefferson/Sevier and Blount counties of TN regarding my one MYERS line. She and a libraian in charge of my family files in the Seviervill library adamently tell me that my line came in from VA. They told me to look for a John MYERS and the immigrant ancestor was Georg MAYER. So, it's still speculation at this point but I have seen the name Catherine NAFF in my tavels. It's such a brickwall at this point that I can't say if there is a connection or not. As well, I've found so many different MYERS MYRES MOYER(S) MIER(S) and MAHER/MAYER/MAYAR'S that I'm even at a total loss as to which line is connected and which ones are not. The MYERS/MOYERS surname was about as popular as the SMITH'S and JONES'S in the 1700's making it that much hardier to differentiate between them. It didn't help matters any that the pioneer settlers migrated from PA/VA/KY/OH/TN/NC in a "jump around" manner. The words "let's pickup and move" must have been in their everyday conversations. More then 1/2 of the early TN settlers came in through old VA migrating in from PA. I really wish I could make a connection with you. Keep my email as I'll do the same and possibly one day we can connect. Many out here have asked me to look for Christian MYERS, son of Christian MOYER, son of Hans Christian MAYER. I've found no less then "3" lines thus far. I am almost certain that I have alot of of intermarried ties with your MYERS below. Some researchers on my line are adamently stating that our MYERS lines were m. into BRYAN CONNETSER'S and loads of others like the DUNN and WEBB lines of the Coves, whos families came from Greene County. I'm beginning to believe as they do that we are bloodline connected here. I've read alot about your John MYERS below. 3. So sorry that things didn't pan out. Perhaps somewhere along the line it is for the best. One hates so to be disappointed, however that seems to be part of life. You still have a home and your "Big" dog and cat. Still have much to be thankful for. Right? Take care, we love you. Ce la vie! That's just the way it goes. So, I'm out here if anyone needs me. Good thing I didn't pack the dog and cats yet. Tomorrow I'll be at the Enoch Pratt library and I will be looking for Gasper, Casper, Henry and Jacob MOYER MIER MEYER MYERS from PA to MD and back. Will report my findings by Sunday evening. ;) They have some pretty good household records right down to their addresses from old Frederick (downtown) and along old Rt. 40 into PA. Baltimore always housed the main records going back to the earliest of times. It's a wealth of information in Baltimore... funny that I see a rare amount of people there, even on a Saturday. Even stranger to me anyway is that most Baltimorians / Marylandiers look at me rather oddily when I mention "genealogy" but it's probably like that in most large cities. I'll check the email in the morning before I go for any last request/lookups. I have a list of printouts dating back to last year in my brief - I'm always scanning over the names people ask me to look for. So I may seem slow but it's only because I haven't seen anything on them. Below you'll find something regarding the Library of Congress ca1818. Do a search for George MYERS - he's on the list of whom signed this bill in 1818. Enjoy. ************* H.R. Journal--SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1821. >From the Library of Congress.
