Hi all, Well, I see from my email (kickback) from the MOYERS posting board that there is a heated discussion going on right now on "if" Kate REXROAD was m. to Jacob MOYERS and Harmon MOYERS and Sarah SMITH'S son was John is questionable.... so I'm hear to clear a few things up. I have no less then 4, not 5 books here at the old homestead ;) written by 3 different authors. And in these books are the lineage, pretty well documented on these lines from old Highland, Pendelton Counties of VA, now West Virginia. I'll give you what I have, don't know if it's fact but let me lend a few words to those whom huff and puff to others out here when they are assumed to be wrong...there are mistakes made in the Constitution they our Gov't won't change to this day, why... we're only human. 2nd, when you go back into records (if there are any) dating back to the 1700 and even 1800's, well, who's to say. A Genealogist and Hobbyist/Enthuists has to rely on total conjecture; might as well be a sleuth, to piece information together. We've all heard the stories of the "surname spelled 10 different ways on 1 document" woe before - Hey, I can show you a ton right now! Historians still get angry at school superintents because they will not change the text books to show that chrisotpher Columbus was not the first to discover America - sorry Italians but I got new for all of them, "Why do they insist on using the word discovered when the Indians were here 1st"?? So, in all the books and writers that I have here from ARBOGAST/ARMGASH, REXROAD, MOYERS, SIMMONS, WAYBRIGHT, ZICAFOOSE, PROPST lines etc.. from the very line everyone is chatting abt right now, each one is totally different. Even MORTON has 2 different versions from 1 books to the other but he probably found out more info by the time 2nd book was written - or maybe, just maybe he made an error, something we all do- especially those whom huff unkindly at others out here. NOTE: There were MYERS in the records w/above recorded lines, too. So, let's see what they say. 1st: MORTON History of Highland County VA/WV: He has NO Katie REXROAD but rather a Katie MOYERS and she m. Jessie H. THOMAS and they migrated into North Carolina ca 1832-1839. Jacob MOYERS m. Catharine REXROAD. Catharine b 1787 d 1883. No other dates. >From the Benjamin REXROAD lines and I'd tell you more but it's very confusing the way MORTON set up his lineage charts - I"ll study it and get back w/ you on this (I'm not kidding - you should see this). Benjamin looks like he was the son of .. "GEEZ" tell ya later! MORTON has Catharine's sister Mary m. to a Lewis MOYERS. ---------- MORTON: History of Pendelton County, VA/WV -------"------- >From A Roster of Men in The Confederate Service, originally compiled by H. He has a Calvin MOYERS m. to Isaphene REXROAD, dau of David MOYERS, David, son of (can't tell) but they stem from the Zachariah REXROAD and wife Catharine line. ***Now, another Kate(ie) REXROAD, dau of Zachariah REXROAD. As part of the UK/Ireland Collection at Ancestry.com you can search more than 15 million names in its United Kingdom and Ireland Parish and Probate databases. These subscription databases are a collection of historical parish and probate registers. Records range in date from the early 1500s to the mid- to late-1800s. Some non-parish records are included from as early as the 12th century. Parish records--primarily baptisms, marriages, and burials--provide the best source of vital record information in the centuries before civil registration. The records include baptisms/christenings, burials, marriages, tombstone inscriptions, obituaries, tax lists, wills, and other miscellaneous types of records. Also included are some records from non-conformist churches. All of the data was converted as it was originally presented in various published registers and books. It's been awhile so I'll post again: I'm looking for any information regarding a Joseph Meyers/Myers/Moyers who was born approx. 1805 in PA and later moved to OH. He married a Jane Van Allsdale and they had at least 2 children that I know of, Peter Jackson Myers (b. 1837) and John ? Myers, both of whom ended up in MI. I know that both Joseph & Jane were born in PA and that their parents were also from PA. Please, any help would be appreciated!! :) Thomas Sirius_Black_@HotMail.COMGet more from the Web. The second name was the one they went by. Some continued the custom for several generations after arriving in America. Maybe Minnie Bell was following this tradition?
