    2. Chrystie, What is already known about the people who traveled on this ship? Do they tend to be Protestants? Did the ones for whom there is knowledge join folks who were already here? Did large groups of them tend to go to the same place once they got here? Did they indenture themselves? Any women? Children? Did they tend to be from one area? The names do not seem to be Brethren or Anabaptist. Some of the spellings look like they could be variants of more common names (Clearly some are already listed in that way -- with guesses). I know that you are just forwarding a message from another group but there doesn't appear to be any way to contact the group working on this shipload of people to find out more. 3. HISTORICAL NEWSPAPERS ARE COMING TO ANCESTRY.COM ================================================================== Have you ever wondered what life was like for your ancestors during the Civil War? The Roaring 20's? The Depression? Newspapers can give us a window into their world, revealing what the nation was thinking about during these and other historic eras. In addition, newspapers can also give us important details about the ancestors we seek. Wedding and birth announcements, obituaries, school graduation and military appointments are all chronicled in our nations newspapers. In the next few weeks, Ancestry.com will be bringing these valuable genealogical resources as close as your home computer, launching an entirely new subscription collection of historical documents. Never before available at this level of convenience or quality, our Historical Newspaper Collection will begin with newspapers from the western frontier in the 1870's, the Midwest at the turn of the century, and the long time standard of our nation's news, The New York Times (1857-1866). We will start with 100,000 newspaper pages and add 1,000 pages per working day to keep the collection growing. With over 50 million pages slated to be posted, we will soon have the largest collection of historical newspapers ever assembled. Our free viewer software allows you to see these pages in the comfort of your home, with all of the convenience and power you have learned to expect from Ancestry.com. The Newspaper Collection is fully searchable, and individual pages can be saved to your home computer or printed for your family history files. At Ancestry.com, it is our goal to make our collections available at a very reasonable rate. This new collection may not interest all researchers and so is being offered as a separate subscription. This keeps the overall price of our core services affordable. Current subscribers to any of our collections can add a Historical Newspaper subscription at a greatly discounted rate. This new offering comes at an exciting time at Ancestry.com where, as announced a few weeks ago, our core data subscribers will be seeing more and more images accompanying new datasets at no additional cost. In addition, census subscribers will be seeing exclusive images of the 1930 U.S. Federal Census going on line within hours of its release. The new Historical Newspaper Collection promises to be just as exciting and valuable to researchers. 3. I read about your Jacob MOYER at the Nat'l Archives. There are books that make mention of him traveling with the Indians. That's how I remember this person. He was very affluential w/regards to this Expiditon to California. Nat'l Archives is online - lost the bookmark. Goto http://www.google.com and conduct a search. Once there you can run a search for him. Try the Library of Congress too. That might be where I seen it as well. I know there are books in publication and at libraries on this guy because I run the MOYERS board and always have a keen eye for any MOYER(S). There is a lot written on a John MOYER(S) seen spelled both ways as well as MOHR MUIR and MEIR or MIER as well. Can't tell you anymore -good luck. P.S. Have you tried areas of California Natural History? 3. Pardon this intrusion, but in case in anyone is interested I finally decided to part with the book, MAYER FAMILY written in 1878 by Brantz MAYER, son of Christian MAYER published as a Private Family Collection. I just placed her over at Ebay for sale. I need the money and it¹s not my direct line. The exact same book, not a replica, is sitting in Peabody Conservatory¹s (for Music) Genealogical & Historical Holdings Library here in Baltimore City, Maryland where I reside. I know, it¹s where I first found her. There were only 100 printed. The librarian told me she knew of no others.... And I found this one from a guy in California about 2 1/2 years ago. I paid more then 150 dollars for it and yes, I had it checked out at Peabody and its¹ authentic. She¹s aged but still in good shape. I didn¹t think of putting this out here but then I thought that maybe someone from this line would really cherish this book, as I have. I kept her inside of a locked bookcase inside of a special heavy plastic cover w/airholes. If you want to see it head over to http://www.ebay.com and do a search for ITEM NUMBER 1520512247. Quite honestly, had I even thought of telling all of you, I would have saved my self the listing fees... But just didn¹t think of it. Sorry. And pardon the intrusion, again. 1. [MOYERS] Descendants of Christopher Meyers--Mary and Sarah
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Meyers(Myers, Moyers, Myres), Parks, Dyer, Bean,Jameson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HU2.2ACIB/222 Message Board Post: I would like to add some information about the descendants of Christopher Meyers. Mary E. Meyers was born 1828 to Christopher Meyers and Sarah McGowan from Bledsoe County. In the l850 census a Mary E. is listed in the Bledsoe County census as the wife of John Parks with two children Sarah A. and James. She was born in 1828. By l860 this family has moved to White County and they have added children Thomas C., Jane, Annie E., Tesessa E., and William C. In the l870 White County census they have added one more child, Susan, 6. In the l880 census one finds Mary E. listing her father being born in Tn. and her mother as being from S.C. Living with them is a Martha Jane Dyer,20, niece. This is Mary E.'s niece, the daughter of her sister, Sarah. If one looks at the White County l860 census one finds Sarrah C.28, married to Apollas Dyer with children Mary S.H., James R.C.. Sarrah E.F. and Martha. People who have researched Apollas Dyer say that this family moved to Texas in l88! 0; hence why their daughter Martha is living with them--she didn't want to move to Texas. Mary and John Parks youngest daughter, Susan Martha(sometimes Martha Susan) marries James R. Bean. Her death certificate, April 29, l938, lists her mother as being Mary Meyers, Tn., and father as John Parks. Susan and James go on to have children--Ruth, Vinnie, Mary, Nora, Lass, James, Holman, Rose, Ellie, Lora, Charles, and Ruby plus a few more who died. My grandmother is Ellie who married Henry Clay Jameson. They had two children, Mary Katheryn and Lucy May Dorothy. Lucy (Dorothy) is my mother. The only questionable section of this is the part where Sarah McGowan is listed as being born in S.C. Some of the things I have seen say she was born in N.C. But looking at the original l850 Bledsoe census I think what is being listed as N.C. could really be S.C. This does match the bio information from the Memorial and Biographical Record of the Cumberland Region, which has been placed of this site before. Any one wanting more information concerning this line is more than welcome to contact me.

I had Olivia listed as one of Henry and Margaret's children, but I did not have Harriet but I do not have the childrens's full names and birthdates. So I may have Harriet but not her full name. Very interesting that Olivia and Harriett were twins and were both married to Mr. Sutton. I did read a very nice Bio about Mr. Sutton. I'm sure you have already read it. Sorry I do not have any more information, but I'm sure we are researching the same Moyers family. But I'm not sure yet how you and I are related. I also read an interesting Bio on Harriet's first husband. If you have not read it please e-mail me directly my address is pmyers911@hotmail.com With information you told me about Olivia and Harriett I find that my 2nd great grandfather was a brother to them. So Olivia and Hariett must be my 2nd great aunt's. By the way who was your GG Grandmother Harriett or Olivia? Pam
