ROFLMBO Too funny!!
Thanks Chrystie. My Jacob Myers was reportedly from the Palatine area (north or south I don't know) of the HRE/Germanic states. He supposedly reached Philadelphia around 1760-1763. His son Abraham was born shortly after the ship docked. He was the first child born off that particular boat. Around 1765, Isaac was born. Jacob and his family migrated into Virginia. Va. covered a big territory at that time. It appears that Jacob was in the Orangeburgh District, South Carolina around 1780. He served in the Rev. War/Orangeburgh Militia June 14, 1780 to Dec. 21, 1780 and was paid Nov. 29, 1781. His daughter Nancy Myers received the pay. He was a private. Jacob and his family was in Jackson County, Ga. in 1807 and 1808. Jacob and Margaret Myers children's marriages: Abraham Myers married Sarah Roberson (Virginia) c. 1783-1788. Nancy Myers married Lewis Hiner/Hyner , July 24, 1807, Jackson Co., Ga. Alcey Myers married David Rutherford, Oct. 6, 1808, Jackson Co. Barbary Myers married Henry Roberson (Don't have date or state.) Apparently Henry and Sarah are brother and sister. They had a brother Capt. James Roberson that was in the Rev. War. JACOB MYERS died in 1808 in Jackson Co., Ga. Abraham Myers, Lewis Hyner and Henry Roberson disposed of Jacob's worldly goods. The latter two were sons-in-law. Abraham and his family migrated to Walker County, Ala. in the 1830s.I have good records from the 1807s to present. References: Jackson Co., Ga. Help... The WILLOUGHBY MOYER(S) MYERS WEST LEWIS HENDERSON MYSTERY CONNECTION of Greene, Washington, Jefferson, Hawkins & Sevier CO. TN MOYERS, Suzannah b 1808 Jefferson Co., TN (possibly part of Hawkins or Sullivan); died in OUTER SPACE... I have no idea. Daughter of James David MOYERS and Mary Polly BLACKBURN & sister to: Christpher, Dr. John Grizzell James Blackburn Jane M. George Alexander Mary B. Alfred Greene Co TN Marriage Book # 2382 West Myers m. Ann Willoughby Dec. 2, 1822. Witnesses; William Willoughby. Bondsman: Enoch Willoughby. I had this marriage recorded in my files just to try and tie them into my MOYERS/MYERS WEST WILLOUGHBY connection and now I can plainly see that they were. Many historians are certain that Enoch WILLOUGHBY left Suzannah/Susan MOYERS/MYERS, sister to Dr. Christopher MOYERS/MYERS, James Jr., John and (more) by 1822 for KY but this shows he was still in the area performing his "minister" duties or "family duties" in 1822. Maybe he "Circuit Rode" during his Ministry which is not a bad guess as most did in those days. Poor horses and better traveler's then dare say "I". Suzannah "Susan MYERS" MOYERS shows in 1830 and 1840 Jefferson Co., TN census records as Susan MYERS. 1840 with Clary age 19, Elizabeth age 15 and James age 11 and a NS Rhoda. Next house on her property are MOYERS but they are listed as black. Could be her families slaves whom took the surname as many did in the early 1800's. She was the dau of James David MOYERS and Mary Polly BLACKBURN and she was born in 1808 in Jefferson Co., TN. Her line came in from Culpeper Co., VA and her ancestry roots back to the old Germanna (2nd) Colonies of 1717 to a Georg MOYER/MYERS from Wurtemberg, Germany. NOTE: Jefferson County is one of only a few East Tennessee counties that have mostly-intact records since the County's date of formation (1792). Prior to that date, records for present-day Jefferson County can be found in Greene, Hawkins, Sullivan, and Washington Counties, Tennessee; and in the State Archives of Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. The records are governed by state law, and the County Public Records Commission is responsible for ensuring that the laws are upheld. LEWIS I have always known that there was another Enoch WILLOUGHBY with a brother Elijah, their father was Elijah and a mother Susannah, according to census records, but these 2 boys were just that, little boys when my Enoch would have been an adult; they used the same first names over and over again. Also, in the State of Franklin, TN book I have here is a Matthew WILLOUGHBY whom signed a petition instrumenting this new found state-hood (lasted 2 years), who's grounds would later become part of Greene, later parts of Washington Co., NC/TN, Jefferson and Sevier Co TN. And on this list is a Chrystie and John MIERS. MIERS is how they spelled the surname in the Ohio and Maryland areas. Even Isaac MEIER of MYERSTOWN PA in Lebanon near Berks Co., PA named his town MYERS-TOWN not MEIER. WEST Connection holds the key here. Poor Pat, reminds me of the Pat NIXON trauma, imagine how she felt when her husband spoke to our founding fathers who were hanging around on the walls of the white house... My own genealogy research reminds me of 2 old weekly series (see if anyone remembers this one)... 1) The Time Tunnel staring Genie ALOGY and Famie TWEE and 2) Mission Impossible starring all of my GGG'S; Watch them weekly as they continue their adventures of hiding from their "relentlessly searchaholic" ggg granddaughter; tune in weekly just to see how they dodge her paper-trails and hide all their records, maticuosly yet scrupulously evading her every pitiful (or is that pitfall) move. And at the end of the show there's also a shot of me as I lurk around dark alleys dressed in black with my papers hanging out of my bag that's flung over my shoulders, clad in dark sunglasses and pencils sticking up from behind my ears as I linger 'round court houses at the back doors, trying to get in after dark when probate clerks are no longer around....yeah. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Chrystie MYERS, ROOTSWEB LIST ADMINISTRATOR BROOKOVER - KRABAL - MOYERS LIST NEWSGROUPS MYERS GENEALOGY http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- > From: Cirkusfan@aol.com > Reply-To: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 27 Jun 2002 00:43:29 EDT > To: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [MOYERS] RE: testing > Resent-From: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Wed, 26 Jun 2002 22:43:28 -0600 > > John Wayne's "Singing Sandy" movies, Roy, Dale, Bullet, Trigger and Pat > Brady & Nellybelle.. Have you ever taken a total "Tally" on just how many Jacob MOYER(S) MYER(S) MIER(S) MEYER(S) MOIR(S) MARR(S) MOHER(S) MUIR(S) MAYER(S) MAIER(S) MAJER(S) there actually were in Tennessee records alone from 1787 - 1850!?!? My guess is at least 25. Not to mention NC GA VA/WV OH MD PA NY NJ SC LA, too. I was reading that many of the old pioneers traveled into Atlanta from PA and back again during the late 1700's thus leading into the mid to late 1800's and these roads, at various periods in history were packed with 1,000's of travelers for trade, traveling back to PA for educational purposes and to bring in new arriving families from England. That many were mail carriers whom knew more about people from state to state then the locals and he sold more then the mail. Benjamin FRANKLIN actually sat in a covered cart and methodically noted each milestone as it was laid under his direct supervision. And that at most milestones you'll find that at least an Inn/Tavern or home is or was built at one time; this was how an owners and/or families could depend on the weary pioneer travelers to find their establishments while on the old great wagon roads. Great, now I'll be stopping for milestones too. A lot of those that settled in GEORGIA came in from either NC or FL. Bobbye's Jacob MYERS was in Georgia but she's brickwalled on him. Why don't you tell us about him again... What stats you have. Maybe someone new out here will recognize your Jacob. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Chrystie MYERS, ROOTSWEB LIST ADMINISTRATOR BROOKOVER - KRABAL - MOYERS LIST NEWSGROUPS MYERS GENEALOGY http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- > From: Hjwwilson@aol.com > Reply-To: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 26 Jun 2002 23:37:15 EDT > To: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [MOYERS] RE: testing > Resent-From: MOYERS-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Wed, 26 Jun 2002 21:37:08 -0600 > > Jeez. > > All of you are a bunch of old dames. ; o ) > > Who can remember those ole black and whites you are talking about.
