Surnames: Duncan/Carlson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jMB.2ACE/815 Message Board Post: I have a g grandmother and gg uncle who may be from Wright co. Martha I Reids Duncan b. March 3, 1871 m. August Carlson (from Wright) November 9 1890. d. sometime during the winter of spring of 1916 or 1917. Her brother's name was William Thomas Grayson Duncan b. April 1, 1876 m. Mary Norries Dec 31, 1919 (second marriage for both I believe) d. November 21, 1951. The man Martha married was a swedish immigrant who had settled in Wright co. Sometime after they married they moved to Springfield in Greene county and lived there for a number of years.Martha died in Springfield. Her husband was a carpenter by trade. Years after her death, Martha's husband tried his hand at farming in Texas co, but returned to Springfield. Martha's children that survived into adulthood were, Etta Carlson, Charles Carlson, Flora Pearl Carlson, and Harold Carlson. Harold was only 8 when Martha died. Etta and Charles were adults when their mother died. After Martha died Etta and Charles moved to St. Louis where they lived the rest of their lives. Years ago, my mother was driving on the backroads in Wright co and came across a small faded out sign that said Duncan. She suspected that this might have been the small farming community that her Grandma Martha and Great Uncle Bill were from. Any historical info on this community, or info about Martha's parents would be extremely appreciated. jeanette
