    1. Re: Cherokee Indian
    2. If I remember my history (which I may be wrong) but the Osage tribe lived in Missouri around what would become Webster County, which was a part of Wright County....Anyway, they were ran out of Missouri when the first settlers started homesteading the lands........I do know for a fact that Indians lived in the area of Cantrell Creek (Webster and Wright County) in the late 1800's..........and also at the turn of the century........I have pictures of a Indian family visiting people on Cantrell Creek (I have no idea who they were........My mother, who was born in 1925 had an Indian friend, and one day they went to town...probably in the late 1930's and they were going to go to the movies, but they wouldn't let my mother's friend in because she was an Indian.............If I am not mistaken they may have Indian centers in Springfield today....But, I am not sure.........I know that Zany Lowery was Cherokee and she moved with her husband to Wright County in 1855..........I don't know if this answered your question or not......But, that is what I know about the Indians that were living in Wright County.....
