Latimer County News Democrat Friday, June 3, 1932 Wilburton Oklahoma JULIAN F. PROCK Julian F. Prock, a pioneer citizen died Monday morning, May 30 at 7:15 o’clock, at his residence in Red Oak. He was born in Wright County Missouri, March 22, 1860, and at the time of his death was 72 years, two months and eight days of age. Mr. Prock settled with his family at Walls, Oklahoma in 1902 and in 1907 removed to the Cedars settlement in Latimer County. Mr. Prock served this county as Township Trustee at the beginning of statehood. He also served Red Oak township as Justice of the Peace. And for ten years he served as County Commissioner from the third district of Latimer County. He was the best-known man in the East end of the county. Mr. Prock came from pioneer stock in Missouri. His father served several terms as County Judge in Wright County Missouri. Julian Prock was noted for his philanthropies. Never a wealthy man, his worldly goods and his services were always at the command of his neighbors, and every man or woman who appealed to him were considered his neighbors. In truth, Julian Prock every day lived Christ’s parable in answer to the query, “Who is my neighbor?” Forty-five years ago Julian F. Prock and Amanda Bishop were united in the bonds of matrimony. Seven sons and three daughters were born of this union, four of the sons and two of the daughters surviving him. Besides his widow, surviving Mr. Prock are: R. D. Prock and Frank Prock of the Cedars settlement, and Lloyd and John E. Prock, of Red Oak, sons, and Ollie Howard, of California, and Mrs. Samuel E. Raynor, of Wilburton. Mr. Prock was buried in Red Oak cemetery, Tuesday afternoon. Services at the Christian Church, of which Mr. Prock was a member, were conducted by Rev. J. W. Harp of McAlester. At the grave the impressive funeral services of the Masonic Lodge No. 62. The sympathies of the entire community go out to Mrs. Prock and her children in the time of their bereavement.
