Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jMB.2ACE/854 Message Board Post: Has anyone found information about land plats in Wright or Pulaski Counties where the men applied for land bounties from the War of 1812 or the frontier wars of the 1790-early 1800's? Appreciate any information.
I know there are a number of descendants who have been researching Albert Grogan--with little new information. Just stumbled over something on Ancestry, which was positively thrilling. Wayne Grogan (not from the Wright County line, but who includes all Grogans on his site) submitted to Ancestry information on Albert's son, Bradley Grogan (b TN about 1840). Bradley is listed as Ambrose Bradley, so I'm hopeful that whomever sent the information to Wayne knew more than just what we'd found in the 1850 census (only place Bradley was shown with his family). Apparently Bradley moved to Williamson County, Illinois about the time his parents and siblings went on to Wright County. He served in the Civil War from Illinois, married and had at least nine children with first wife Juliana White (b TN 1841) and one with second wife. His children are listed on Wayne's pages on Rootsweb http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mwgrogan& id=I11967 I've abandoned everything else I should be doing, and have been trying to track down his descendants. Have had minimal luck, thanks to the lack of spelling talent of the census takers in 1920. Have also found one error--site says that Bradley's Daughter Maude, who married Robert Pride, died in 1917. I found that's incorrect; she was still living in 1920, and by 1930 Robert and Maude had relocated to Los Angeles to live with their son Leo. (My mother, a Grogan/Fletcher/Smith/Burton, would have been horrified. Leo is listed as an actor in 1920, and a screenwriter in 1930. Have found information on several of the other children. If anyone else is working on this family will be delighted to share and compare. Linda Dewey San Francisco Researching in Wright County: Burton, Grogan, Fletcher, Smith. In Webster County: Burton
Howdy! How's it going? Heard it was really cold back there right now? its not so darn warm out here. I was just wondering how that paper bound book I wrote held up?...I am working putting together the second book and it should be done by May. It is larger than the last one and includes the Wright County as well as Dade County Cantrells, as they were all related anyway. Hope things are ok with you Sandy Wainwright California

Those of you who sent replies in regard to my question (with the exception of it possibly being a Beach Boys song) all have the same basic premise. That of guessing how many objects are in your opponent's hand and having to make up the difference between your guess and the actual number. My brother and I were taught the game by our father and grandfather. I don't know if it was in hopes of keeping us entertained, or for their own entertainment to see how long it would be before the objects were flying through the air AT the opposition. Thank you for responding. Phyllis

I have this information on Dr. Hoots: From "Descendants of Jacob Hoots," by Carl Casper Hoots: (from a letter of a neighbor, Mattie Brown, after John's death) "Dr. John practiced medicine in Douglas County, Missouri. His patients thought of him as being a very good doctor, warm, sympathetic and understanding of their needs. It has been said that he never refused to render his services because the patient was not able to pay. He retired in 1914." Does anyone have information on Dr. Hoots? I am particularly interested in when and where he received his medical education and training.
