Are your Cantrells related to the ones in Texas County. There is a small community of Cantrells according to the Texas County Heritage book. Families are the descendants of Thomas B. Cantrell b: 1819 SC. He came to MO 1868 and resided at Ellis Prairie,MO for one year before moving to homestead on Big Piney River.

I am researching the Todd/Prock line. I do have a little bit of information, but would like more. Briefly- William Rufus Prock married into the Todd line. They moved to Indian Territory before it was Oklahoma. Some of their children were born there. The Prock line then married into the Hall line. That Hall line eventually ended up in California.

I am compiling a list of everyone buried at Fairview Cemetery, located southeast of Mansfield on U Highway -- this is near what was the town of Olathe. I know some residents of Wright County are buried here. If you know of someone buried here, whether they have a stone or unmarked, please let me know. Thanks!

They were listed in Wright Co in 1850, 1860 census. I am searching for a George Garner who was in Platt Co in 1849 and had a son James. The mother of James was Mahala. This could be a middle name or nick name. I have talked to someone once about this family but it was several years ago and I need to check some information with them. Thanks

Could you contact me directly and share some info? I dropped the ball in not exploring this family more thoroughly before I sent my Rowland Book to the printers, but I would like to complete what I can for my own records. I have located a descendant of Jesse Caldwell Douglas, but she only knows the family that is around her in CA so she is very anxious for my material on her Rowland line and would appreciate anything else about her "cousins" we could find. Thanks for your prompt reply. I hope I will be able to find some of those columns Jesse Dotson Rowland wrote. bonnieknauss@hotmail.com

Surnames: Rowland, Douglas, Turner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jMB.2ACE/863 Message Board Post: I recently located a clipped obituary for J.D. Rowland (name was Jesse Dotson Rowland, Jr.) from the Mansfield Mirror. There's no date on clipping but I know he died 6 July 1915. The obit mentions that he wrote a Wolf Creek community news column for the paper under the name of "You Know". While they don't mention how long before his death he did this, I assume it to be around 1910- maybe later. His wife, Martha Taylor Rowland, died 30 Sept. 1917. I would love to have an obit for her and a sampling of the columns he wrote if anyone has access to the archives of the paper. His daughter Minnie Rowland married Andrew "Drue" Turner - and they stayed around MO, while his daughter Lula Belle married a Samuel Douglas and they ended up in CA. I also wonder if there is a county history that gives any information about these families? I've heard the story that S E Douglas fled to CA to escape prosecution for killing a man but I have no proof or dates, except they were still in MO in 19! 30 census. Will be glad to pay for any copies.

Elender Jordan applied for a pension in the name of her deceased son Phillip Anderson Wadkins/Watkins. William Jordan also had 2 stepsons who were in the 8th MO Cav. with him. My interest is the Civil War records for this family and some others who were in 1860 Wright Co. There were more 1860 Wright Co. Civil War veterans who applied for pensions, but their military service was "discredited" or not found on company rosters. Appreciate any information.

Latimer County News Democrat Friday, June 3, 1932 Wilburton Oklahoma JULIAN F. PROCK Julian F. Prock, a pioneer citizen died Monday morning, May 30 at 7:15 o’clock, at his residence in Red Oak. He was born in Wright County Missouri, March 22, 1860, and at the time of his death was 72 years, two months and eight days of age. Mr. Prock settled with his family at Walls, Oklahoma in 1902 and in 1907 removed to the Cedars settlement in Latimer County. Mr. Prock served this county as Township Trustee at the beginning of statehood. He also served Red Oak township as Justice of the Peace. And for ten years he served as County Commissioner from the third district of Latimer County. He was the best-known man in the East end of the county. Mr. Prock came from pioneer stock in Missouri. His father served several terms as County Judge in Wright County Missouri. Julian Prock was noted for his philanthropies. Never a wealthy man, his worldly goods and his services were always at the command of his neighbors, and every man or woman who appealed to him were considered his neighbors. In truth, Julian Prock every day lived Christ’s parable in answer to the query, “Who is my neighbor?” Forty-five years ago Julian F. Prock and Amanda Bishop were united in the bonds of matrimony. Seven sons and three daughters were born of this union, four of the sons and two of the daughters surviving him. Besides his widow, surviving Mr. Prock are: R. D. Prock and Frank Prock of the Cedars settlement, and Lloyd and John E. Prock, of Red Oak, sons, and Ollie Howard, of California, and Mrs. Samuel E. Raynor, of Wilburton. Mr. Prock was buried in Red Oak cemetery, Tuesday afternoon. Services at the Christian Church, of which Mr. Prock was a member, were conducted by Rev. J. W. Harp of McAlester. At the grave the impressive funeral services of the Masonic Lodge No. 62. The sympathies of the entire community go out to Mrs. Prock and her children in the time of their bereavement. So far we have found a total of 19 children for him. Richard and Sarah are buried in the Hopkins cemetery near the Hopkins homestead (1841) on Hwy 38 east of Hartville, and west of Manes. My mother Elma Hopkins married my father in Mountain Grove. Would like to share Hopkins notes. Joe Myers
Joe and Jeanna Luretta "Rett" Redman who married Richard Hopkins and Thomas Lafayette Redman who married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hopkins were siblings of my wife's grandfather Wm Perry Redman. Rebecca Jane Hopkins McGuffy was my wife's gg grandfather Wilson Gaither's second wife. I have a Hopkins file that I can send to you. I also have an article on William Walker I got from a history book that I can send to you. In summary, William Walker was born in Cape May NJ in 1832. He married Sophia Myatt in Bond Co. IL and they had six children. Sophia died in 1877 and William married Charity Green. They had one son and then divorced. In 1887, William Walker married Laura Stapp in Vernon Co. MO. William and Laura had five children and William died Dec 1901 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Mansfield, MO. Laura moved to Wright Co. where she died in 1906 and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery leaving three orphaned children who were each raised by a different family. I was in Oak Grove Cemetery one day and met one of the family members cleaning Laura's grave and he told me most of this story before I ever read it.
