Jenkins was born April 26, 1901 at Palmer, Missouri, a son of the late William and Clara (Wilkinson) Jenkins and died June 1, 1975, in St. Luke's Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He was 74 years, 1 month and 6 days old at the time of his death. He was united in marriage on July 23, 1922 to Leona M. Smith at Potosi, Missouri and no children were born to this union. Surviving are: his widow, Leona (Smith) Jenkins of Potosi; a sister,Ruth (Mrs. Burrell) Funk, St. Louis; six brothers: William C. Jenkins, Springfield, Mo.; Howard F. Jenkins, Payson, Arizona; Wallas (sic) B. Jenkins; Merlin S. Jenkins, Russell K. Jenkins and Leonard Jenkins, all of St. Louis, Missouri, Also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Edward) Mason, Helen (Mrs. Edgar) Welborn and one brother, Ward Jenkins, all of Potosi. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the First Baptist Church, Potosi, Mo. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a prominent Christian businessman, having owned and operated the Potosi Auto Supply for many years. After his retirement, he and his wife, Leona moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they spent about 15 years before moving back to the Potosi area. Funeral services were to have been conducted on Wednesday, June 4, 1975 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Potosi, with Rev. Don Newsom officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Potosi, MO., with sparks Funeral Home, Potosi in charge of all arrangements. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, undated.
