He was born September 12, 1931 at Courtois, Missouri, a son of the late Reco and Bessie (Brakefield) Mason. In addition to his parents, Vondel was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mason and a brother, Gene Mason. Those who remain to mourn his passing include his sister, Thelma Sellers of Arnold; sister-in-law, Hazel Mason of Rolla; aunt, Lorene Eaton of Davisville; three nephews, Paul Mason of Rolla, Lyle Mason of Kansas and Ronnie Sellers of Arnold, and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Britton Funeral Home, Potosi, with Rev. Walter Mayberry officiating. Interment followed in the Lower Indian Creek Cemetery.
