He was a retired carman for Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was married to Mary Frances (McNabb) Belfield, who preceded him in death. Survivors include a special friend, Buena (Jonsie) Jones; two daughters, Sharon (husband Rick) Reid, Festus; and Carolyn Sue (Alan) Tweedy, Arnold, MO; a brother, James Alvin (wife Verna) Belfield, Potosi; two sisters, Pauline Portell, Lebanon, Indiana and Evelyn Allen, Potosi; four grandchildren, Matt (Jeni) Wideman, Gretchen (Jason) Shaffer, Ben and Jon Tweedy; one great-grandchild, Tatianna Shaffer, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Belfield and a sister, Audrey Lohman. He was a military service veteran; member of First Baptist Church, DeSoto and DeSoto Lodge #119 A.F. and A.M. (Masons). Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005 from Dietrich-Motherhead Funeral Home Chapel, DeSoto with Rev. Jeremy Muniz officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, DeSoto.
