The first Cornelius Jarvis I have was born 1794, Hyde County, NC, parents Foster and Delacy Jarvis. From Foster it appears there were 3 more Foster Jarvis's, sons of sons, before connecting to Thomas Jarvis, governor of NC from 1691-1694. There is a book North Carolina Governors 1585-1974 with information on him. Call #975.6 D3 from SLFHL. I am still trying to verify a lot of this. My ancestor was a sister to this Cornelius Jarvis, Marina Ann Jarvis who married Joshua Mason. I have found four other Cornelius' connected to the first one. Apparently this Mason/Jarvis group migrated to White County, TN and then on to Washington County, MO. Delacy's husband had died and Cornelius took his family and his mother. Later Delacy and some others returned to Sparta, White, TN because they didn't like the weather in MO. Glad to share what I have on this family with the understanding it is a work in progress.
