I know how you feel on this, because I met all the requirements for my ancestor, John Fay Sr., to become an Roll of Honor member in "America's First Families." I sent them all my information and sources and got a very nice reply from them, stating that I had definitely done my research on my ancestor and was accepted into their organization. They had a Roll of Honor Certificate that they would send me and my 2 sons, for a fee. I sent them a check for $31.00 and never heard from them again. I have written them and sent several e-mails and have not heard a word. Finally I did research on them and come to find out, the Better Business Bureau had complaints that they had done the same thing to other people. I learned a valuable lesson though...Check out things before you send them money. The link to their website is below...Do not send them money, as you will get nothing in return. http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ Mary Miller In a message dated 11/11/2005 7:59:15 AM Mountain Standard Time, dmiller471@Houston.rr.com writes: When I first ran the [below] post I worried about "stepping on toes"..Not a concern anymore! A while ago I placed a post [below] about C Myers & OMAH. The subject was "still waiting". I had a very nice responce from others [thank you] who were also waiting for C. Myers with OMAH to send research that was already paid for . I NEVER heard from C Myers. I thought perhaps the "still waiting"email would have encouraged OMAH to offer to make good on the already-paid-for-research but sad to say I never heard from them either... My reason for writing this is...This morning while doing my banking online I was surprised to notice my check to OMAH for the info I mentioned "last Jan." was just cashed this Nov.,2005! Needless to say I NEVER got the research info nor did I hear from Myers or OMAH. They should have done the right thing and offered a refund... I'm done with this issue BUT will absolutely pass this little incident on to other researchers. They need to know because it's not just my few dollars that was lost........ D.M. Houston, Tx. As for Myers and her endless excuses.....If she can't handle the work load due to her many problems [I'm not an unsympathetic person but endless excuses wear thin] then perhaps she should cut back on some of her work....BUT refund first! Back in early April I sent the following question to this list; "Hello, I hope I don't step on any toes or cause any friction [is not my intent] for asking the following... Would someone please tell me about how long it takes to get a response from OMAHS? I sent money for research Jan 1,2005 and have yet to hear anything...Does it normally take this long?" The above question was forward to C. Myers of OMAHS. As mentioned in my above question, I paid for research...[2 surnames Trudeau being one]. I received a reply from C. Myers with many reasons why I hadn't heard from her and that she hoped to get to my surnames that weekend..[early April].. The following week she emailed me info on Trudeau....Here it is September and I've yet to hear from her on the other surname. Sent her an email the other day...[no reply..no surprise]... I'm no longer interested in a reply from omahs or anyone connected with them as I've been more than patient on this and will do my researching elsewhere . My main reason for writing this.... "I paid for something and didn't get it"... Not very prof! D.M. Houston,Tx
