He was born July 11, 1942 at Cadet, Missouri, a son of the late John Henry and Mandy Marie (Emily) Eckhoff. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a beloved father and grandfather, a dear brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Emily and four brothers, Howard, Elmer, Clifford and Jackie Eckhoff. Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include two daughters, Shelly Self and her husband Shane of Potosi, and Crystal Pickett and her husband Terry of Cadet; two sisters, Martha Williams of Mineral Point and Betty Lewis and her husband Henry of Rolla; a brother, Jerry Eckhoff and his wife Kathy (Ginny) of Mineral Point; two grandchildren, Bailey and Shelby, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Honoring John as pallbearers were: Kelly Williams, Terry Williams, Brian Williams, Jimmy Eckhoff, Tracy Eckhoff and Kenny Eckhoff. Interment and final prayers were held at Calvary Cemetery, Potosi.
