Maxwell, a lifelong resident of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home in Potosi, Monday, August 1, 2005, having reached the age of 101 years, 1 month and 2 days. Helen was born June 20, 1904, a daughter of the late Clyde and Rose (Franklin) Strayer. Helen was united in marriage to Perry (P.T.) Maxwell on May 15, 1924 at Potosi, Missouri and he preceded her in death in April, 1980. To this union two sons were born. She was a member of Potosi United Methodist Church and was a long-time member of the Browne Chapter No. 320, orders of Eastern Star. She was an avid trout fisherwoman. Helen was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend who loved her church and organizations and still enjoyed her hobbies. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Perry T. Maxwell, Jr.; her brother, Harry Strayer and two sisters, Dorothy Politte and Gladys Haguewood. Whose who remain to mourn her passing include her son, Robert (Bob) Maxwell and his wife Pat of Potosi; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Jerry Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Mitch Weatherly, Gary Maxwell, Michael Simpkins, Ian Simpkins, Bill Warren and Tony Swedholm. Interment and final prayers were held in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi.
