    1. Route from Pa. to Mo.
    2. Anyone have any suggestions what route my gggrandfather, Nicholas Hartzell may have taken to come to Ste. Genevieve from Pittsburgh, Pa. The agreement was drawn up June 7, 1814 and Nicholas left Pittsburgh June 23, 1814. He was from Stoystown, Somerset Co., Lower Turkeyfoot, Pa. and entered into an agreement with Peter Kimmel from Pittsburgh, Pa. to come to Ste. Genevieve, Mo. and set up a Tanyard. Peter Kimmel furnished Nicholas with money, goods, hides, tools and various articles in the amount of $4,367.82 Somewhere along the line he met Mary Goza from Ga. and they had a son, Silas, born 1820 in Ste. Genevieve. I have not been able to find a marriage record for them. On all the estate papers, Mary is always around Isaiah Goza, Hugh Goza, Michael Goza and Charles Goza also from Ga. I think she was their sister, I just can't prove it. Mary Goza Hartzell remarried Samuel Staples and they lived in Jefferson Co., along with Isaiah Goza's family Thank you, Sharon (Hartzell) Smith
