He departed this life Sunday, May 7, 2006 at his residence having reached the age of fifty-six years, five months and one day. David was united in marriage to Roberta L. Luebbers on December 19, 1974 in St. Louis, Missouri and this union was blessed with three children. David is survived by his loving wife Roberta L. Courtway of Cadet; daughter, Sheila Swaringim and husband Paul of Ironton, Missouri; three sons, Todd Courtway and wife April of Ironton, David Allen Courtway, II and wifeTara of Ironton and David James Courtway of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Rita McNail and husband Jack of Lesterville, Missouri and Brenda Shaumann and husband George of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, Stanley Courtway and wife Linda of St. Louis, Missouri; Jerry Courtway and wife Judy of Palm Coast, Florida and Robert Courtway and wife Cheryl of Cadet, Missouri; brother-in-law, Carl Bourbon of Cadet; seven grandchildren, Summer, Tyler, Bailey, Joseph, Alan, Ciarra and Dana. David was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Candia Bourbon. David loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He served this country in the United States Marine Corp. He enlisted in St. Louis, Missouri on May 9, 1969 and served during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Rifle Marksman Badge. David received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corp on May 8, 1975. He also enjoyed sitting and playing the guitar for hours. He was a member of Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge #2330. David enjoyed life to the fullest until his illness. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 10, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri. Burial took place in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Services were entrusted to the care and direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri. Independent Journal, Potosi, MO, Thursday, May 18, 2006
