    2. Christine Lembeck
    3. I have civil war pension files from my Barron ancestors. Not only are they interesting to read but they all contain testimony from their neighbors and/or friends from the Washington County area… some of the testimonies may be from your ancestors. From the Civil War pension file of William Barron William Barron died October 8, 1870, according to his widow, Josephine Bass (nee Hindman). They were married December 31, 1867 and had one child, Mary Ann, born November 1, 1868. The pension claim was rejected because Josephine remarried April 7, 1872, to John Bass. The following testimonies are from people that once lived in Washington County and knew William Barron. April 29, 1895 “personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, Mary Ann Murphy, aged 58 years, a resident of East Carondelet, in the County of St. Clair, and State of Illinois… and George Cook, aged 50 years, a resident of East Carondelet, in the County of St. Clair, and State of Illinois….. I, MARY ANN MURPHY, say that I was well acquainted with William Barron that I lived about two hundred yards from them. I visited him every day during his sickness and closed his eyes when he died and saw him buried in the public grave yard about two miles from Potosi, Washington, MO, near where he lived. My husband Nathan Harris, dug the grave with George Cook. It has been so long since that I cannot remember the date or year. I, GEORGE COOK, say that I was well acquainted with William Barron and saw him during his last illness and when he died dug the grave with Nathan Harris and saw him buried in the grave yard about two miles from Potosi Washington Co., MO. I don’t recollect the date or year as it has been so long ago. February 3, 1890 “personally appeared before me, Justice of the Peace, in the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, WILLIAM J. SUTTON, aged 58 years, a resident of Belgrade, in the County of Washington, State of Missouri…. I was personally acquainted with William Barron before he enlisted in the U.S. Service and know that he was a member of Company I, 8th MO Infantry Vols and I was a member of the same company and regiment… about the 10th of June 1862 near Corinth Mississippi the said William Barron was taken sick. I was wagon master at that time and took William Barron in one of my wagons and hauled him for several days….. the wagon William Barron was in ran off of a small bridge and turned over and fell on him and bruised him up considerably. He was unfit for duty from that time until his discharge. He complained of his breast hurting him and had a bad cough… his lungs was badly affected. --------------------------------- What are the most popular cars? Find out at Yahoo! Autos
