He passed away on July 27, 1980, in Arcadia Valley Hospital, Pilot Knob, Mo., at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 7 days. Ernest was united in marriage to Dona Wood, November 1917 and three sons were born to this union. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons, Leon and Glen Abney and one sister, Hallie Abney. He is survived by one son, Carl Abney of Florissant, Mo.; one sister, Lola Wood of Warren, Mich.; three brothers, Clarence and Claude Abney of Belgrade, Mo., and Grayfer Abney of Bismarck, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sharon Estes and Rocky and Michael Abney; six great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th at Sparks Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. J. Wesley Thomas officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery at Belgrade, under the direction of the Britton Bros (Sparks) Funeral Home of Potosi. Independent Journal
