I think he just didn't know his maternal grandparents names. I believe his maternal grandfather was deceased by 1850 and I suspect his maternal grandmother died in the 1850s. Brands, C. M. So, the birth date on the bap. record is the same as the birth date on the death record. The parents are the same on the bap. and marriage record, primary source records.
